Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Anyone else here work at Dell and leave with emotional scars?

The tech’s impressive, I won't lie, but the culture’s another story. So much internal drama and empire-building, it was exhausting. I still can’t decide if I should be grateful for the experience or angry I stuck around for as long as I did.

@c3 well said its a meat grinder/boiler room type job they pay actually well but you don't have any career. Its mostly a landing pad for those who are wanting to retire or pad their retirement after working in other IT spots for 30-40 years

Yes they wouldn’t lay me off and I was very upset until my finance advisor said I had enough money to retire.

I only realized how bad Dell was for me after my WFR last year. I thought that getting laid off was the apocalyptic, terrifying scenario, but it turned out that being inside Dell was harming my health, both physical and mental. It turned out that the toxic chaos was stunting my career and growth. I was bunkered down in a bad situation that would only and will only get worse and worse for employees. Dell is not a good place to work, and it's hard to realize that while you are fighting to avoid the inevitable WFR.

@bp I'll second this, working at Dell su-ks right nor, but if it's scarring you the you need to grow a thicker skin. You're most likely not being spat on, cursed at, and having heavy objects thrown at you and then after that having your manager blame you for it. All of those things happened to me at my last job nd and I came away scar free.

Emotional scars from a job? You need to toughen up or volunteer at a shelter.

Why come back and talk about your bad experiences? Just move on.
