It’s less than .03 percent of their cash position. I wouldn’t go loading up they still have 347 billion in cash.
Buffett buys stocks when either
1) the company has solid management and opportunities for growth
2) the company has been mismanaged but is important in its segment and can be turned around with proper oversight to produce reasonable stock value improvements
Guess which this is.
Why now... because the stock is trading at 50% of its all time high, he can make some quick money
@g1 no one knows why they did this. It’s being reported he had plenty of opportunity over the years but never was interested so why now?
@g1 because the fundamentals are strong and the stock is suppressed by a string of bad news. A pause on bad news and the stock will recover. UNH won’t see the 2021-2024 growth it’s seen before but margin will improve and with it the stock will appreciate

wont be surprised if the real reason the big investors are buying it all up is possibly an assurance by the new cfo to offload assets. all of these fat cat investors rely on insider information, front running, no institutional investor wastes their funds on analysis of any kind. all this does is throw a lifeline to the losers who cratered this business in the first place with incompetent management and mindless spending, unless that changes, nothing changes. the stock is a heartbeat away from tanking on the first sign of any bad news.

@aa just objectively presenting, unh will increase premiums to align with risk exposure and will drop unfavorable markets. Spending will be reduced. IMHO should be back to above 400 to 450 by dec. Back above 500 in April next year if q1 is good.

Seems like another retail trap. Nothing fundamentally has changed as we all know. Nice off ramp for recent buyers I guess.
