Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

This is a cry from the heart.

We’re not just tired, we’re drained.
The layoffs. The forced RTO. The emotional toll no one talks about.
People are breaking while pretending they’re okay. Serving time in office seats, silencing their spirit to survive.

This isn’t just about policy, it’s about dignity. About purpose. About the cost of trading your soul for a paycheck.

To leadership:
Power without empathy breeds silence, not loyalty.
Fear is not culture. Control is not leadership.
You cannot demand greatness from people who feel invisible.

To employees:
Your life is sacred.
You are not just a number, not just a title, not just a survivor of another restructure.
You were made for more than this.

We weren’t born to die in systems, we were made to live with meaning.
Let this be the awakening.

It’s time for something real.

@bn I call BS on this one - I was top talent for many years and no one was able to deliver the results needed in my org when I was let go - it was all about $$ nor performance

@bn What HR? lol If you need to contact HR good luck its all online with a chat. I have never worked at a company that did not have an actual HR department. It's all 3rd party at Dell for HR.

HR need to do more vetting? Should that be Talent Acquisition?

Do better. You're making it seem like you haven't a clue what you're talking about.

This post hits home more than ever mainly due to not just the actions of Dell but the actions of every company at the moment. Typically if you were laid off there would be other opportunities however with the path we are going down Without saying the two magic letters i don’t see a bright future. When the leaders of said companies are warning about the future of the human experience do we just continue the same. Being in sales how do you grow your business bu10-20% when you and your customers are shrinking at that same pace. Everybody will be so efficient sales will stop….

Dell is a top flight company. The employees that are there are there BECAUSE THEY PRODUCE RESULTS. Those who got let go was because they didn't meet expectations. Our leadership is top knotch. What isn't are many of the employees that we're hired too quickly. HR needs to do more vetting to ensure only the best get in. If you're a top performer I 10/10 recommend Dell.

Many people have this feeling of insecurity bordering on despair. Mostly because layoffs seem to be an ongoing thing - I’ve seen several top performers let go (soon hired by others) while the slackers were kept.

I guess rather than try to resolve the issue of undue stress - Dell sent me a piece of mail at home from a company called Lyra which explained the ‘generous mental health benefits’.

Am I the only one who sees the irony?

@ac

So just roll over and die because that’s how it is. That’s exactly what gives evil power. “Accepting this” to find “peace” is not peace, is despair and defeat.

Peace is a work life balance. Peace is not feeling like your family will be destitute if you lose your job because all of your social safety nets have been slowly eroded by corporate lobbyists whose job it is to privatize everything. You are giving them exactly what they want, and you think it brings you peace, but you just submit to servitude. If that brings you peace then I feel sorry for you.

Dell is a soulless corporation (as are all of their major competitors). They are not your pal, they are not your family, they are not your sanctuary and they do not care about you beyond what you can produce. You are a number, a tool, a cog. The sooner you realize this, the more peace you’ll have.

The despair amongst my peers is palpable. Bootlickers and corporate shills sold their souls for a paycheck a long time ago. They’re perfectly happy being cannon fodder because “that’s how the world works” and they’re too comfortable in their own mediocrity, or too weak to forge their own path. They tell themselves they’re “doing it for family” but they’ve castrated themselves for a paycheck.
