Frys electronics closed abruptly like that because 90% of the merchandise they had left was sold on consignment so there wasn’t enough value in the merchandise they actually owned to try and capture sales through liquidation.

All of the stores will shut down eventually I think with the exception of stores in places like Guam and USVI where they have no competition. Maybe they will stay afloat in Puerto Rico too since there is no Target there (although they do have WalMart in PR)

Edward Lampert is a genius. I trust the plan.

Carlos Slim’s business plan includes investing in the business to increase revenue and profit. Eddie Lampert’s business plan is to slowly drain the company of all remaining assets until the clawback provisions from previous asset spin-offs, have expired. Then he will license the remaining assets to realize future royalties without a physical retail presence. (aside from the small network of Hometown stores, which he can utilize for .com support with very minimal investment).

Like when Wards went out of business In 2001. A&E was handed over to Sears By Serenity aserrant group the company that owned the service contracts .Because Sears was the only one with a nation wide presence that could handle the volume of work. The only thing that Sears paid for were the hard assets like service vans and equipment. I assume that the only difference this time around will be to divide the work up between the hundreds of smaller appliance service company's around the nation.

Retail might close their doors but the home improvement business, appliance repairs through Sears and A&E and ServiceLive will carry on. We are the money makers.

My 8 Year old daughter was laughing at this poor use of language. You mean how DO the last stores close? Company not conpany. Electronics not Elcectronis. Where not wear, suddenly not suddinly, would not WOOD, happen not happin, think, not thimk. Seriously, did you misspell so many words to troll us or are you truly that ignorant that my 8 Year old was laughing at your ridiculous errors that she would never make herself. Get a grip and try getting a passing familiarity with the English language so you don't need to be corrected and laughed at by a third grader, for crying out loud.

Yeah, I hear you man. So few stories left to to talk about once Sears stores fade away. RIP old friend, we'll miss your lifetime warranty on Craftsman tools.
