Let go while on Baby Leave

Anyone know if someone can be told they are let go while on Paternity leave or if it would have to be held until returning to work for legal reasons?

@bk yes. When I was in sales, it was clock work for years with one of our reps. 6 months on, bad performance, 3-5 months leave, rinse repeat. They were so bad that they kept bouncing them from team to team because people would always have to pick up the slack. Finally got clipped during the, 22' rif.

@bx thank you. They communicated it to you while you were out though?
Just making sure I’m understanding correctly.

Yes, this happened to me. I was on payroll until the end of maternity and parental leave. No additional time could be taken. I applied for a position internally two months after the news, and was able to stay with the company. You get more time to find a job within if that is what you want to do.

People abused STD and FMLA like crazy at Verizon especially the BGCO in Alpharetta and Maryland. It was like clock work. Now they get to abuse it at another company.

When this happened in 2023 we had folks on leave both std and fmla who were laid off still- they just stayed out on leave till their off payroll date of their claim was supposed to end after that date.
