Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Oracle laid off lots of managers -is Cisco going to do the same?

https://thefinancestory.com/oracle-fires-3000-employees-after-144bn-cloud-revenue-projection

And then this is saying that for example in Zurich it was mostly managers https://www.linkedin.com/posts/robin-wiethuchter_oracle-fired-most-of-its-managers-and-some-activity-7376369071761752064-npyv

Not sure about other teams but we were recently presented some Digital Delivery s..it that required us to update our own task lists and workload At the same time we were all asked to fill up a skills matrix that AI will use to automatically find people that could work on projects. In his naivity our managers told us that this will, in a first stage go through manual approval. What he missed was that it will require probably 10% of the current number of managers for the same job. This will also curb nepotism, we have people in our team who are favored by managers, they clearly get work above their skills to help them progress and then othe rear licking employees are asked to watch o er and to save their managers' protégé when they can't handle the work assigned to them.

@cv Then why are the excel clicking worthless managers still strutting around the corridors of the UK offices? Take RLG for instance. Ridiculous waste of space. Got promoted to a manager under CP’s DEI obsession. No one wants to work under her, and has ruined the team beyond repair. She has no respect or trust from her team. She is begging internally and externally on LinkedIn for an SE since last April and still can’t get one. Why are people like these get to be managers? They are non-technical , have absolutely no input to the company. Total deadweight to the payroll and toxic to Cisco

@bj wrong. Leaders and managers are getting LR all over the place and have been for some time

Cisco is head heavy and will never let go managers especially these managers are covered by the friends and family program.

if Cisco was capable of decisive action then it wouldn't be in the dreadful position it is currently in

decisive action at Cisco will only happen after:

  1. a massive drop in the share price

  2. a replacement for CR who is from outside Cisco

I don't expect either of these....I expect Cisco share price will just be stuck in the mud as dead money while D-listers continue to get internal promotions

Think Stellantis, but for tech

Cisco would lay off managers en masse if/when shutting down entire BU's, business functions, and/or locations. Oracle is doing the same.

There is not one manager in SBG that is worth keeping. All of them have been here for ages and dont know anything but attend meetings and assign jiras

Yeah they should, our SBG division halayoffs ongoing in the teams for last 2 years. But manager are the same for last 5 years. Even one of the manager got his spouse hired by another manager in the same location.

Get rid of management here starting with FLMs. They should have been eliminated even before AI they are that useless
