Since many of us can utilize AI to do our jobs in a third of the time in IT- why wouldn't we use agentic AI with high performing onshore resources and eliminate offshore? Just feels like this would be the best way to leverage this tool.

@n0 I do not find it all that at all. It is only as good as engineers and annotators.
Do you find that the AI is really all that? I find that as an experienced developer of over 30 years i am often correcting it or suggesting more efficient ways of producing the same results. Often it feels like I am working with a junior developer. But it writes the code super fast and is excellent about brain storming possible ways to produce what I want.
@b2 not sure what agentic AI you are using, but all of mine are ridiculously fast?
@bj wait, your tickets went to level 2? All the ones I've seen just get closed without resolution
@a7 the first level support is ridiculous. You tell them what troubleshooting you’ve done and the problem then they take control of your screen clear some cache and document the problem incorrectly for 2nd level support to deal with. Escalating tickets means nothing anymore been waiting 9 days for a tech. So our productivity is brought down due to offshoring but our goals keep going up.
@OP Sure AI can replace some of what offshore does as long as those responsible for implementing agentic AI do so properly, if the aim is efficiency hold your breath as the current agentic AI is slow and cumbersome.
That is so true. Leadership is all about saving money and if they can get 10 for the price of one that’s all they care. 10 Filipinos means 9 Americans who will be unemployed and the salary of one American will get them 10 foreigners all with bachelor degrees that they paid 400 bucks for. They will entertain leadership with food, skits and fun times while at the office. Leadership even has said they are all better , hardworking than Americans.
Because our leaders are id--ts. They have no technical backgrounds. They truly believe that a low paid ($15k year) Indian SWE + AI out competes a good US engineer.
Yes, a high performing US engineer with AI is a powerhouse but they cost more and at the end of the day that’s all the higher ups care about. They don’t track the loses due to incompetence from many offshore teams, they only see the cost savings of not having a US engineer.
This is no clearer than the IT Help Desk. They basically pulled anyone off the streets in the Philippines and gave them an IT support title. That has led to 1st level support doing absolutely no troubleshooting and just punting every issue to high paid engineers. The leaders only see the cost savings because there is nothing tracking all our engineers playing IT support.
