Tried 5 internal job positions, all hiring managers have pre-identified candidates. Some said directly, some rejected with nonsense reasons. Why do they post them. What’s your experience?

I recently moved within the company and definitely didn't know the team before. I had been applying to multiple teams within dell for a year ish and finally got into one. I definitely think some are fixed, but not all of them
Exactly it’s a farce. My teammate applied for one and it was given to someone who was identified all along. The whole thing is a joke.
All true - but there is also important to understand why managers go this route. Dell does not provide extra funding for promotions - the raises (and they can be significant to move to the mid point of the next band) can drain the yearly raise budget. So - the alternative is the IJP route - which is why the outcome is pre-ordained and those HR covers that you mention come into play.
Totally agree. It is a farce and it is preordained. I was told many of them are for visa sponsorship reasons. One HR person said off the record. They post it to prove that no qualified person was available. Then they turn around and reject everyone who applied. Then they claim no qualified person was available. If you are laid off and they didn’t offer you the position, sue them. You can win it and can have the last laugh.
@bhn+1uofFzH4 - Do you know what IJP stands for and why they are created?
@bhn+1uofFzH4 yeah, right
Nope. Roles we have here have a lot of internal candidates both from the recent bench and from existing staff. We have been surprised who and how they came forward. It is bringing some of the best people to the table. The only challenge is keeping the people who arent successful happy and engaged.
They’re just going through the motions. All jobs advertised now are just crony internal wfr rescue people who know someone.
an HR exercise
eh, you are doing it wrong.
the idea is to get out of dell. not to move inside dell.
they have to post them
