Gas discount

Can I keep the 10% gas discount when I leave? If I set up the autopay to be from my bank account instead of my paycheck?

@OP you will lose the discount if you’re no longer an employee or retiree. I also know someone who had their account closed once HR notified Citi they were no longer an employee.

It is more like a 7 percent savings.

Employees get 10% off the price before taxes. Taxes are a lot of the price though. I do not understand why we don’t advertise the pre tax price. It might wake people up. Just like the taxes that employers pay for each employee should be paid to employees and then make the employee cut the check to the government.

@b9 because you’re retired. It’s a benefit for current employees and retirees.

@bh, BS. The consumer card gets 10 cents per gallon, not 10%. Stop shi*ting on our benefits. Fastest way to get them taken away is to tell our overlords that you don’t value them.

You don't have to be an employee to get the discount. Just apply for the card. This is not a benefit. It is offered to the public.

I was able to keep the discount for about 4 years after separating from the company, and then one day received a letter that since I was no longer an employee, the account was canceled. It was a sad day.

Probably came up during an audit that the company was losing barrels of dollars on gas discounts for former employees who were no longer with the company, or "retired".

Active employees and retirees are eligible, not sure who would be monitoring this.
