Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

How to tell if LBT has correctly diagnosed what is wrong with Intel?

Watch to see his first actions. If he does all of most of the following, it will be an indicator that he has correctly diagnosed the issues and it will be a good sign:

  1. Fire a chunk of ELT. Including Dave, Christy, Saf, MJ, Christoph.
  2. Announce a plan to fire 10 % of middle managers to streamline levels of management
  3. Reduce VP ranks from ~600 to ~300
  4. Promote some worthy folks from lower ranks to replace the fired VPs.
  5. Engineer half of the BoD out and vote in new Directors.
  6. Announce a plan to drastically cut orgs like CSO, Finance, Legal, HR, Comms, supply chain and other support functions.
  7. Accelerate sale of Altera and sell of stake in Mobileye
  8. Announce a huge write-down of the stupidly wasteful CapEx spent by Pat. Ohio, Germany should be ZBBd and the land sold off.
  9. Work towards a goal of achieving 70-80k headcount by end of year.
  10. Hire a competent Product CEO (to replace dummy MJ) and hire a competent Foundry CEO.

This is a good list. Add to it some form of RTO mandate.

@b8 "Reduce maternity/bonding leaves from 4 months to 1 week" - one week? Really?! The US is already very poor in terms of maternity leaves and leave, in general, as compared to the rest of the world. Plus, it lacks the support structure (social and medical) for helping new parents. I agree the bonding leave can be reduced a bit, but how do you expect maternity leave of one week? Clearly you've never had kids, or never interacted with anyone who had kids recently. Get out of your basement!

@c2 Correction: they get laid. They just make compromises to do so.

These guys are hilariously driving the increase in reported % of the population that’s gyay.

A population of unwilling g@ys. Some closeted. Many others too pathetic to make it with the opposite gender, so they break down and slink into the sheets with whatever will take ‘em.

Guy actively hating guays while he has a weeny in his mouth. Wtf?

Once HR removes DEI filters and turns on the age filter...they will get good number.

OP - you are missing important point of removing DEI.

Firing 10% middle managers won’t do much. Fire 50% middle managers.

I’ll give you some credit. There are about three points I could agree with……the rest are unconceivable. However this post isn’t half bad. We need to role model this brainstorming ideas at Intel and pick some of them to execute on. Some ideas may be whacky, but a few of them might be gold:)

  1. Identify critical projects, identify the one person that accountable for each project.
  2. Fired 70% of entire intel 9,10 and above.
  3. Ask this one person from the critical project to justify rehiring of #2 back.
  4. if needed, channel the cost saving from #2 to hire fresh 6 n 7 workers.

== K8s 101.

Pushing Ann out and sidelining Navin shows where the big headcount reductions are going to happen.

Naga now has the mandate to restructure TD, and realign Fabs to be more like other Foundries.

Gonna take a while but that means virtually all direct labor (nonexempts) become contract workers and a lot of the indirect labor (exempts) are put into regional pooled headcounts, at least for OR and AZ.

Should be able to cut a ten thousand headcount and that will make Foundry profitable.

Awesome stuff!

@bh Tell us you work at Intel without telling us you work at Intel. Reading. Comprehension. It’s free! And it’s easy.

Reread the post. Slowly. Think about each word and how it relates to the word before it, and the word after it.

Maybe you’ll see your folly.

If you reduce headcount by 80k intel will cease to exist. No products will be delivered.

You could solve all the issues in the company by getting rid of the people with or who identify with XX chromosomes. Or maybe just generalize to it people who like talking about work but not doing it.

Agree mostly. Also, add:

  1. Layoff or demote 50% of the so-called "technical" Directors+ like PEs, Senior PEs, Fellows, Senior Fellows and have gradev8/9 drive those tasks
  2. Freezer H1B hiring.
  3. Disband/cut by 50% money draining bloated arrogant incompetent TD/TMG/IFS/Atom/Xeon/GPU/Haifa/CMO/Packaging/NEX/NXNE/PTL/

GNR/CWF teams.

  1. Reduce maternity/bonding leaves from 4 months to 1 week.
  2. Close down or significantly reduce incompetent Bangalore/Haifa/Kyriat/Folsom/Allentown/Oregon/Chandler attrition site.
  3. Layoff "supporting" teans that are directly working on silicon, external customers!

I somewhat agree with this post. If we see changes at the top right away then he would get the employees respect or else it's going to be the end if he fires ICs
