Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Jersey City, New Jersey Sears

Apparently they’re beginning the downsizing process for Primark. Anyone have further details?

@lqoh+1o8zbQg0 I mean, that might very well be, but where in that post does it definitively prove that?

Back when Sears Holdings still believed in putting out press releases, they published this one in 2015, listing seven Sears stores where some space was being subleased to Primark. Of those seven, the store at South Shore Plaza in Braintree MA is the only Sears store still open.

That article does not say the Freehold Sears was torn down. Quite the contrary, it says that Primark moved into the top floor and the mall owner is looking for tenants for the first floor.

"Primark, and mostly recently Bob's Stores, have set up shop in the store's upper level. The store's lower level, about 72,000 square feet, remains vacant.

Now Macerich, the regional mall's owner, has made it easier to fill the space with what it says will be "multiple, high-traffic generating retail/entertainment/restaurant uses that are a great fit" for the community. No other details were available."

@bgpw+1o8zbQg0 Nobody can take a pilgrimage to a place that does not exist. Yawn, #admin, thanks in advance. Also, Freehold Sears was torn down. Troll elsewhre. https://www.app.com/story/money/business/main-street/whats-going-there/2023/06/20/freehold-raceway-mall-sears-jersey-shore-retail-shopping-ocean-township/70329336007/

The CVS space is tiny compared to one floor of the Sears store. You can see the Simon mall map here:

https://www.simon.com/mall/newport-centre/map/

I believe CVS was the now-vacant store near JCPenney on the first floor.

Primark moved into the former top floor of Sears in Braintree MA (which is still operating) and Sears in Burlington MA (which closed two years after Primark opened there).

Yep, Targets have small format stores. Sears had them, and Kmart has 1. https://corporate.target.com/article/2018/07/small-format-stores

Many chains (like Kmart in Miami, for example, or Target and others) also have mini-versions of their stores. Yes, Sears is the "likely" location for Primark. But the word "likely", does not proof make. When it is 100% confirmed, then it's 100% confirmed. Not until then.

I'm pretty good at "working out" that I believe something when I see irrefutable, concrete proof. Show me proof of them going into the Sears area of that mall.
Link it or zip it.

Yes I am sure Primark are going to change their store size strategy to fit into former CVS store just because you can't admit the only available size store in that mall that is available is the Sears store.

You are not that good at working things out are you?

@4gfr+1o8zbQg0 The irony of you calling others d-mb, when you write a sentence like:
"hey won't for into the CVS".

What does for into, mean, exactly? And use some punctuation to separate your run-on sentences. Even us d-mb folk Know how to use proper grammar, punctuation, and sentencing.

Also, there still is no guarantee they will use the Sears area. What if they decide to run a downsized version in the CVS spot?

Even if you're 99.5% certain they are going in the Sears place, that still isn't concrete proof. Your supposedly going to Europe doesn't prove anything either. Deal in facts & proof, not speculation.

When you have an article definitively stating it's going to the Sears area, then you have something.

Poster below, learn to read the story does not say they are considering the former CVS it says that store is empty and makes no mention of them looking at any store.

Having been to many Primark stores in Europe and a few in the US they won't for into the CVS it's far too small so logic dictates the only large enough space is some of the Sears store. Not hard to work out even for d-mb people of this forum.

To the poster below, don't jump to conclusions like that. This article mentions that, they are also considering the CVS location in that mall. https://jerseydigs.com/primark-jersey-city/

We have no proof of where it's going, yet. Guesses, or speculation, are not concrete evidence.

Primark stores are large, where else would it be going if not in the Sears space as that mall has no other large spaces available.

I've seen photos of sparse merchandise and large empty areas of this store, but no definite indication yet that they are planning to vacate and sublease parts of the space just yet. What is the source of your information?

@1dne+1o8zbQg0 Exactly. These drive-by, "apparently" posts have no meaning. They don't have any evidence, and people are bored so they just feel like writing something. Nothing to see here.

Apparently you have no details of that happening either.
