Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

50 miles, RTO

It seems fairly certain that those within a 50 mile radius are going to be turned into hybrid but when will the communication go out about that ?

Will it happen soon or not until Feb

The 50 miles part is very extreme. In most major cities that's 1.5+ hours each way.

Now we have nothing to worry about. We all go back to office 5 days a week including remote sales. Worst than pre-covid. Just open up for voluntarily WFR already. Stop being a C÷÷t to everyone.

you can get them in the office, the trick is to get them to work a full day. To many people are in by 10am and gone right after lunch. Hey, they get their 39 days in

It's easy to implement this in the EU. In EU you have the right to request remote status but the company can reject it if they want

Once again reneging on everything that was agreed upon.
Over 50% went remote to their chagrin. It was a big virtual flicking of the thumb by employees.

So they will again change the policy on the heels of layoffs hoping to scare people back into office.

They won't. Their policies are one size fits all. My manager works in a building with absolutely 0 team members co-located and he was forced hybrid anyways.

I seriously hope, if this is true, they consider those team members who may be within the radius yet have zero team members or cross functional team members in any hub in their state. What sense does it make to be in an office yet talk to no one?

the hard part is proving that they discriminate against you for being remote.

So there are no changes coming to the policy ?

Time to get out of your pajamas, stop stealing time from the company to go to appointments, mow your lawn, run to the hardware store, pick up your kids, tap your neighbors wife. Start using your PTO for these tasks and get back to the office and put in an honest 40 hours. Bunch of lazy thieves.

In most of Europe the consequences they threaten for someone choosing to work remotely are completely illegal and unenforceable. So, choose remote if that’s your preference and feel free and justified to continue applying for internal roles, promotions and pay rises, they are not allowed to discriminate against you based on your work designation.

that 50 mile rule went out the window when they introduced the lates 'version' of hybrid whereby if you chose remote you lose opportunity of promotion unless you reselect hybrid. Managers had to also sign off on you chosing remote. If your manager decided you had to be hybrid and you were 3hr commute away they would expect you to commute of move...
There seems to be a new push to get those who are remote to reselect hybrid again. The usual veiled threat along with it, "if 1 person needs to go and there are 2 people identicle in every way apart from one is remote, you know you they are going to chose dont you..."
