Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

And then people from better companies come here

It’s the saddest thing, when people from much better companies move to Juniper.
What were they thinking? What information was their decision based on, what made them make such a mistake? It makes me wonder.
Maybe they were given bad advice? Maybe they think that people here are making it up and that the situation is not as bad as they think?

There was this guy who moved from google L8 to juniper CTO. That was a pretty good career boost. What is your definition of "much better companies"? Does cisco or oracle count?

The trade off for the knowledge gained is being micromanaged by someone less competent than you, which isn’t sustainable for lots of reasons lol. Which is why you have an exit plan.

@krx+1bHGqNoL Just because the tech is old and outdated doesn’t mean it’s not valuable from a learning perspective. Quite the opposite actually. I study old computer systems all day.

@bfl+1bHGqNoL: I am guessing you are not in software engineering. "learn a lot" is definitely not the case if you are since Juniper software (aka Junos) is horridly obsolete.

You can come, learn a lot, get burned out and leave with hopefully a career bump.

It’s what I’m doing.
