Methodology: $general slack channel participants count change. So those are people who lost access right away.

I too lost my job yesterday. Quick 10min call to say your job has been eliminated. Even my manager was blindsided and didn’t know what was going on. He also was shocked to hear I was let go. Matter of min, slack was shut down and then the computer. 10 min call, that’s what we get.

If they disappear from Slack, it's a sure indicator they lost access. Everyone is automatically subscribed to #general Slack channel and nobody bothers to leave it, so it's the best approximator of layoffs with immediate loss of access. It's very unlikely those are catchup disconnects from 2 weeks back.
How did you know how many lost access right away? I want to know as well
I hadn't thought of that, but a few weeks ago, a couple of channels I was in were commenting on the loss of members, wondering if they were from people who were let go. I guess it was!
