For Dell and its employees. One Year from Now Dell will be cut to 1/8 of Market Cap and employees and customers will no longer have faith in anything Dell

Mac's don't even come in any crazy colors. The Macbook Air is literally black, silver, and two other light tones.
I'm sure for high school and college aged kids, it's more about brand recognition... but the usability of MacOS X is night and day better than Windows 11 or any of Microsoft's OS predecessors. If you're gaming, sure, don't use a Mac, but if you don't game, have an iPhone, Apple Watch, etc, that ecosystem is great. Are you a creative who uses Adobe CC suite? Apple is your go-to, and has long been the industry standard.
My personal laptop has been some sort of MBP for over 20 years, all the while working at Dell, so I've had countless Dell laptops to compare between... the difference is staggering as far as quaility, design, screens, reliability and longevity are concerned. On the few Mac's I've had over that time (because they actually last) I've never had motherboard failures, keys literally popping off the keyboard, or any of the countless issues I've had with my Dell laptops.
That said, I will say this... we can all make fun of Dell's new naming scheme for their laptops, but I have the newest company issued (Pro 14 Plus) and it's the best Dell laptop I've had by far. And I say this as a non-kool-aid drinking Dell employee who has pretty much hated every Dell laptop I've had prior to this. It's a significant step up in overall design (aesthetics, keyboard, screen, etc), and I think that's great.
@bf+1k1kbtkza Kids (and adults) prefer macs because they work better and they don’t break. Every pc laptop I have had has broken after 3 years or less. I have never had a problem with a Mac.
Ok Cramer.
we need more DEI colored PC's to match all the liberal kids hair colors. Isn't this fun. That's what they're learning in college anyhow.
@bf way off. It's either gaming PCs or consoles, laptops are a joke.
Of course the reason kids want Macs matters. Apple has their status because they've consistently delivered a high end customer experience for so long that ownership implies a lifestyle of quality.
If your off-brand laptop ruins the vibe in the dorm with an unwelcome restart and diagnostic beeping, then the last thing you'd want is more colors and LEDs drawing attention to how poor and foolish you are.
@ad The funny thing about Dell is that, all they need to do is cater towards the younger generation, college students mostly... and make PC's FUN. Make them in various colors, have the stupid LED's, make them so they are capable of playing basic video games at least.
Aint no student wants a boring a-s silver or black laptop that is only useful for school work. HP figured this out and they have all the "fun" colors and cheap gaming laptops, Lenova did as well. The REAL gaming computers are out of most students reach and budget but, speaking just about laptops... Kids want an Apple 99^% of the time because it's trendy. Dell's aren't trendy. Apple is for some reason but the reason doesn't matter. They are. They are sleek, light, "fashionable?", come in various colors, various models and sizes, and as an apple user... they link up to EVERYTHING. But otherwise they are totally useless outside of school if you don't do the tasks they are truly meant for... Not meant for gaming, which most guys at least lol... want a computer that can play the latest games. But, nobody buys an Apple to game on lmfao. At leate I hope not...
Dell keeps making the same boring computers/laptops that kids aren't dying to have. Alienware is great and all but, again... those are typically way outside the average kids/parents price range and they aren't exactly the most portable computer... Razor gaming laptops are so far ahead it's not even funny but are much pricier. These Alienware's are clunky, heavy and not super practical for a student with 20lbs of books in their backpack already.
The M series laptops are OK but they are just Alienware without the label and aren't any diferent.
Long story short, Dell is missing out on a MASSIVE market - which is high school and college kids. These kids want fun colors. They want a laptop that is versitile in more than JUST note taking.
I think if dell started offering more "fun" colors to their laptops, that'd make a huge difference but every college kid wants to fit in and vbe "cool" so, apple is the go to. Dell isn't trendy or "cool" because there is nothing cool about dell computers.
OP...Did you get that puppy I suggested. Zero chance Dell has 1/8th of their current mkt cap a year from now. You just make this cr-p up and it seems to provide you some level of weird satisfaction that only a counselor can fully unpack.. Hope you find happiness at some point in what seems like a very very empty life..Puppy is a great start

My only friend, the end
@a7 hate to tell you, but we aren't doing great in the PC market. hence Jeff Clarke taking over the business. I survived again, somehow, but this is getting tiring.
Relax. Dell is a top 50 company. It isnt going anywhere. Is it sh-t to work for? Yes. Will talented individuals avoid applying and leave within? Absolutely. Is there zero innovations and is it encouraging not to share? yep
Its lost the AI race. Bleeding in the ISG space. But will have a standing with the box built PC/Laptops/Monitors for the foreseeable future with a side hustle for servers until companies realize DELL are completely unnecessary.
They have no choice but to start cutting off limbs to survive and you should prepare if your part of that limb.
thought it already was here
