Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Recognition progam is offically worthless

Needs VP approval for Bronze, Silver, or Gold.
Must have direct reports to give out any recognition (50 points)

ok, fine on the second one... but the first is just stupid. Who is going to want to give out when a VP has to approve them? Seriously, it would have been better if they just replaced the program with gold stars.

BB is a mcnerney style knockoff but without the glitz that Jimbo had with Wall Street. Costs must be cut. Growth is a buzz word. He's probably in Maplewood this week since the weather is nice. Then back to his Florida yacht. What a life. Get paid 10 million and tell subordinates to cut benefits and mandate RTO

Cost savings. It is all cost savings. We are heading into recession and we will all put up with what ever we get to keep our jobs. This is the era of the employer now. Buckle up

I expect very few VPs will approve anything. Maybe a few bronze. BB will have weekly reports downloaded to his cell every Monday morning. While sipping his Starbucks on his yacht in Florida, he will root out and chastise any VPs who go above a certain number of approvals, calling them frivolous and wasteful.

Does anyone really think Michael Vale would be this bad? Jg14 and 15 would still have LTIs. The old rewards program, those lame, still was better than this.

BB is testing the system to see how much he can irritate and drive away what he considers to be Minnesota Nice people who expect As. He never bothered to understand nor appreciate 3Ms unique innovation culture. Just like Mcnerney. The guy RARELY shows up in Maplewood and has no appreciation for Midwest work ethic.

Even a knucklehead can see he fancies himself Moe and employees are a bunch of Curlys. BB will keep up the fingers in the eyes, hammers to the noggin, etc until people leave voluntarily.

@bf+1jshjg83f the point it not about handouts. The point is IF there is a recognition program, it should be worth our while. As it stands, this is no longer worth it so they might as well get rid of it because of the hassle of VP approval. If a manager or director has to get approval for a VP to give a bronze, that does not put a lot of trust in the system. God forbid you trust even a supervisor to give out a bronze. 50 points is cr-p unless a supervisor give out 5 or 10 of them to one person at once.

I am JG14 and I do not plan to recognise anyone from now. Let the morale continue to decline. It's none of my business.

Anyone 14 and above can give awards, not just those with direct reports. But I don't agree with this either as the whole point of this was to be able to recognize colleagues in some small way that actually had some significance attached to (granted not a ton, but it did add up over time). I think making the cash awards require to be approved by Bill is just d-mb. Nobody is going to push that. Just cancel it is you are going to do garbage like that.

Everyone SHOULD use it; request the awards and try to use up your entire budget. Overload the VPs with all these stupid requests so they can start to complain

I don’t plan on using it, I’m not going to sit there waiting for someone I don’t know to approve something.
