Our team just lost one of its best to these layoffs. I honestly thought anyone else would have been let go before him. He-l, I thought I’d be gone before he was. None of this makes any sense. Why would any company choose to let go of some of its best people? Where’s the logic in that?

Why not give people with the option of taking a pay cut vs the boot?
Probably because he had the highest compensation on your team.
How many veeps and directors does a BI org need to tell you that sub counts are down?
Anyone know if they also vested equity like RSUs?
@be I’ve heard from multiple sources that accrued vacation was paid out to those that were laid off.
Year-end bonus was as well.
@cg With some of the recent reorgs (like a huge chunk of TechOps being directly handed to SD-IT) it's hard to tell. Some of the layoffs may not have been working with their new VP or Directors for very long. I certainly wasn't.
Were they getting along with their SVP and Director tho?
It’s a slow time of the year so they let go of them now they lose all of their vacation time they had built up and they won’t get their full bonus. Then they will see if they can get by with the employees they have otherwise in six months those people are eligible for rehire with start back at the bottom. That happened with a couple of employees I’ve seen from previous layoffs. This is the hardest time of the year to find a job
My team also lost some of the best. There are ones left who perform way below the ones let go. They are shooting themselves in the foot.
