Thread regarding BD (Becton Dickinson & Co.) layoffs

What kind of severance is being offered?

Please someone share what kind of severance is being offered. This time, a$$hole leadership is not even showing any humanity, just to make sure their a$$ is not targeted. What a bunch of shameless folks! If you love your friend and family, never refer them here.

There was some recent word of mouth rumor that severance had been recently changed to 2 weeks per year served with a cap at 9months

I hope this isn’t true, as someone who has been there for 20yrs.

Garden Leave means you continue to be paid for a while, but you are relieved of your day-to-day job responsibilities.

I am JG 5 and above. I have got 1 year in addition to garden leave. I asked for additional support and was offered. As long as you are on good terms and you are not the reason for the situation, I feel there is an opportunity to be heard. One should ask for sure. Not easy, but that’s the situation in many organizations now.

You can find the severance policy only if you look hard for it. The old policy was 2 weeks per year of service - no limit on years served. Now it is based on your grade level. JG3 and below get 2 weeks per year, no cap. JG4 and above are sc--wed with a cap at 52 weeks (well those of us with long tenure). You will get paid any earned bonus and vacation as well. You will be offered COBRA, career placement counseling and can collect unemployment. Buckle up - if they didn't get you this time, they will the next - which may come after the spin off of Biosciences and Diagnostic groups.

For JG3 and below, it’s two weeks for every year of service, no maximum.
For JG4 and above, it’s two weeks for every year of service with a maximum of 52 weeks.

I agree with @be, 2 weeks per year sounds like the legal bare minimum.

Unless you signed something that specified severance details, always always always negotiate your severance package! I know a few people who were laid off last week were able to negotiate theirs.

I have heard 2 weeks pay for every year. I believe there is a policy on HR One.
