It'll help if everyone mentions their YoE. I saw a trend of mid-level career folks (~10-20 years) getting cut a lot.

I was ranked "good" (very good prior years) and was not laid off. 6 YoE.
PIP'd and laid off. Sounds like it was already a done deal, and seems the group I am in was specifically targeted. Honestly, at first I was sad, now I'm relieved. This is probably just the beginning of a long and painful process where folks will fear for their jobs over the next few years. Glad to be out.
@bdc so honorable, but stupid.
I refused to be a 'communicator' to people I don't know. got laid off - garden.
I was PIPed and survived. Also survived the layoff. Counting my blessings.
I know of 2 who had been PIPd (and survived the process) that were safe and 2 that were good performers who were cut. I believe a huge deciding factor was if your group was already over staffed or not. Some low performers were safe just because they were in a group that was leaner than others.
Selection teams didn’t spend a lot of time moving people around to new positions or workgroups due to high performance. There wasn’t enough time. It was focused on how many (few) people were needed in each DU/Workgroup/Team etc to get work done. If you were a strong performer but in a group which had more cuts vs others, you could easily have been laid off while a lower performer in group with fewer cuts was not. Ideally they would have started with a completely empty org chart and filled each position based on skill set, performance and potential but that would have taken at least 6 months and they needed to implement workforce reductions before the end of the year so the severance expenses don’t show up in FY21 and the reduced run costs are in place in time for FY21. Same reason we took the write off the quarter. Getting all the one time losses into this year so next year is clean and execs can talk about what a great job they’ve done, while the reality is they waited at least a year too long to cut employees so we’re forced to do it in a somewhat arbitrary and inefficient manner...although that is how most everything has been handled since the XTO acquisition.
I think most people replying don't work at EM...
Based on this thread, seems like exxon out names in a hat and drew. id–ts.
