Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

The layoffs broke something

Work just does not happen anymore. Every morning brings a new set of priorities and by afternoon they have changed again. Projects get announced and then abandoned before anyone finishes the first task. People vanish from the org chart overnight with no explanation. Managers are drowning. I have stopped trying to achieve anything meaningful. Now I just float and hope nothing sinks me. Most of my coworkers seem to be doing the same.

@e4 If you think that almost a billion out the window is bad, just wait until AI starts hallucinating at scale.

Wait until Citi's AI Bot sends the Fed the latest episode of Family Guy for a CCAR report. Wait until payments to clients are in kind deliveries of cattle and soybeans, thanks to AI slop.

Citibank is a ticking time bo-b due to a lack of a data governance culture at every level above C-13.

You need to we@ponize the situation. Citi is telling you and your team to dig your own graves by ordering you to train your replacements so that Citi can Fire you or Lay you off.

Don't do it ! Play Dvmb and get Amnesia. Stall them, give them wrong information and give them the bare bones minimum info if anything at all !

Citi is Fvcking You. You need to Fvck Citi back !

Let Citi Sh00t itself in the foot since the offshore teams who will replace you STILL do Not know or understand how to do the work.

Citi is treating you and your U.S. based co-workers like faceless, nameless trash to be discarded AFTER You've outlived your usefulness and trained your offshore replacements.

@bk

Yes. This is what happened when the India-based "Geniuses" gave the thumbs up approval to accidentally wire US$950 Million to Revlon's creditors in August 2020, for which Sh!ttybank got hit with monetary fines and Consent Orders!

The New York-based MDs/Directors affirmed that approval which sent the measly US$950 Million out of the "Bank".

Not only does Sh!ttybank have Incompetent B0zos Schlemiels, Sh!ttybank was and IS using Flexcube and other Stone Age Labyrinthine "Technology".

Everyone can Google the above Fvck Ups.

Sh!ttybank is a Comedy of Errors Carnival Circus, Dysfunction on top of Dysfunction Every Single Day!

U.S. District Judge Furman ruled Only about one-half $450 Million be returned To Sh!ttybank. And so, Revlon's creditors got $450 Million of Shareholder (and Employees') money for FREE. LOL!

@bd It does not matter. why you're still worrying about the business failure without your team? you and your team are nothing. you're the board member of the company?

This isn't new. Been happening for years. Constant SR management turnover creates constant change. Nothing gets done. D-mbest company I've ever worked for.

They do not care . They will not keep the whole team nor the departemnt. All they need to do us to keep a few experimented people (1-2) to keep smoothing the transition process.

@OP I’m seeing the siloing getting worse, no one collaborates for fear that their hand will be pulled from the life raft and they’ll be left to drift into the deep rif sea. It’s like watching a slow motion car crash…

@bk still better than the work done in the US. Must be the reason why they are offshoring the roles

@bd they'll never understand the work. Offshore india teams are good for one thing, following a pre-defined checklist.

You’re not wrong. I can give an example of something currently happening, but I can’t say which department. Last year, at the end of 2025, the department was told that by the first quarter of 2027, our work would be eliminated due to AI automation. The company is designing a new system to automate most of what we do, and whatever work remains will be transferred to an offshore team in India.

They brought the offshore team in and expected us to train our replacements. However, the transition is already going poorly. Many of the offshore team’s cases are being completed incorrectly, and after two months, they still do not seem to fully understand the work. Leadership has not fully noticed the extent of the issue yet, but if things continue this way, once the current team is gone, the whole department is likely going to fall apart.
