Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford should refocus and concentrate on designing and building simple affordable cars

Today’s car buyers market is mostly made up of trailer trash, dregs, welfare queens, serial shoplifters, crackheads, alcoholics, me-h heads, basically your all around gutter trash.
So what does Ford need vehicles wise to get these losers into Ford Dealers to buy a car?

The answer is designing cheap new beaters with a fresh coat of paint and no warranty. Ford could mass-produce cars like this just as like old Henry Ford did. Price them cheap, sale them fast should be Fords strategy.

"Look, you cannot make profits on selling low income vehicles. The math doesn't work that way. Ford strategy of high end, high transaction, high profit vehicles is sound business strategy."

Well you got the high-profit part right. But let's talk about another kind of math. The math of you being wrong about "high end". Id expect high end vehicle to stay out of the mechanic bay and not beat the industry 5 times over (at least) in recalls. Then theres the math of inconveniencing your customer. How about that math? Nails on the chalkboard is the kind of math that is buddy.

How do you think BMW. Mercedes, etc are viable companies?

@g1 Look at the bright side. If you can't pull an engine for a living, you can ALWAYS push a Ford for a living. Job security for sure!

@bd Nobody, NOBODY, considers themselves a “mobility customer.
People buy vehicles, they buy cell phones, nobody buys “mobility.”
Unless it’s an Uber or Lyft ride service.

Ford does not have the resource and knowledge to build a simple vehicle. They build it the old fashion way. Ford engineers can only do Excel Spreadsheets and PPT. That is all that they know. So sad.

Ford needs qualified mechanics for 120k jobs but cant find any, as per Mr CEO. Oh, and he said it takes 5 years to properly learn how to pull an engine.

Question, how do you convince a serial shoplifter to pay money for a car? Don't serial shoplifters tend to steel anything they can get their hands on.

@bd assuming that today’s customer wants subscription based services is such an awful take

I disagree with such a business strategy. It is devoid of the high tech and exciting upgrades (exclusive subscription based features, customization, etc.) that today's mobility customers are looking for. Not to mention, a basic mobility product cannot be as profitable because of this. Ford is positioned to take advantage of the changing customer landscape via the ongoing transformation plan.

Ford needs new design engineers that can design vehicles. Ford designs are from Stone Age. Nothing changes for many years, no improvement no innovation.

I agree with OP. I have 3 vehicles (2 Fords and 1 Chevy). The Chevy has no frills and gets 36 mpg. Guess which one I drive around?

Slate is doing it now, but .... The Chinese vehicles twice are better and twice are cheaper. They are quality built too. Not what you hear on TV. They have perfected them and improved quality to the next level. It came to point that other OEMs trying to reverse engineer Chinese vehicles. The current global situation. 180 reversal.
