Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hey Verizon, people if you wanna save money, be more efficient stop doing what you’re doing

Verizon’s side of the house seriously needs to adapt some of the ways Frontier operates because, frankly, Frontier has always done certain things better. Faster execution, scrappier teams, less bureaucracy, and way less unnecessary process wrapped around every tiny initiative.

If I get added to one more Slack channel for something that could’ve been a two-sentence message, I’m going to scream. The amount of overcomplication is exactly why work slows down.

And leadership needs to be realistic about the culture issue. There are people on both sides who clearly don’t even want to be here anymore. Fine — give those people strong packages and let them move on. But keep the people who actually care, execute, innovate, and know how to get things done without turning every task into a 40-slide deck and six approvals.

Not everything has to be “the Verizon way.” Sometimes the better answer is already sitting right in front of you.

Wireless used to be very efficient and decisive and turned on a dime to execute. Then Verizon2.0 and the wireline leaders took over and crushed what worked with their need-to-bloat-orgs-to-survive-rif mentality. The same will happen to Frontier and any other companies brought into the fold. Sad.

Frontier is a one trick pony loaded up with Debt. Frontier is nothing to brag on. They declared bankruptcy and legacy Vz Execs cashed out.

@OP I agree 100%, but that is the reality of your situation. Frontier was purchased by a failing telecommunications company in hopes that it would save it or at least delay the inevitable.

You are all Verizon now. You are dooned to failure.

@OP Spoiler alert: there’s a huge difference between what VZ “leaders” say and what they actually want. Watch what they do not what they say. Think of what they say as weathervanes that always point in the direction of the hot air coming from above them. All they really want is to continue to be promoted into positions that they’re totally unqualified for.

Things will make more sense if you keep that in mind.

You do not want to be like Frontier. Salary is the lowest in the industry and management is clueless from what I heard. The lazy people are really lazy while the hardest workers somehow always end up with extreme workloads.
