I'm calling BS on this post tbh...
They obviously can track when you badge IN but have no way of knowing when you leave for the day. The ONLY place I know of that you HAVE to badge out is at a data center. You literally can't leave unless you swipe your badge. Office buildings though? Badge in and that's that.
The only thing I can think of is that they "can" - which I HIGHLY doubt they do - is track if your computer is connected to a DELL internal IP address which would be 10.188/187/189/154/xyz. I forget what the internal IP range/network is for Dell Corp but essentially, if your intenal IP address isn't within the DELL network, then you obviously are not in the office. Your home IP uses a public IP which won't be a 10.x.x.x, and same with if you are using a phone hotspot.
Even at that though, what if you go to idk, chilis for lunch and work? Your public IP changes... say you are there for an hour or two... then go back to office and get a dell IP again, then an hour later go sit outside and the wifi is garbage so you use a phone hotspot instead. Dell WiFi is GARBAGE! Especially GUEST WiFI - for FED users lol.
Every program that is running on your computer will show up in task manager. The only real way - there are others - is to rename the .exe to something common (idk, chrome.exe or something) but even at that, chances are very high SOMEONE will dig deeper and figure out that xyz app is not what it seems to be due to it's high utilization of network resources lol.
All in all, there isn't a good way for Dell to track your "in office" time. At least not one that wouldn't cost money and well, Dell aint' gonna spend money on that lol.
