Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Prepare now

I would want to alert those who think they are on the edge ..
Prepare now ,, market is really bad all fake interviews , GM , stellantic, ford ,, suppliers all posting jobs and doing namesake screening and rejecting almost everyone..

Its extreme job market.
Some sugeestion...
1) consider FMLA options , i heard some people know how smartly to use it.
2) Save Save Save,,,,
3) Practice coding ,, that will be first level of screen for most interviews.
4) Mentally accept the fact that its going to tak 4-8months.. and you might still not last there in first shot.. make a hop later.

@ae
I agree with you - most job postings are not real. We see almost no new jobs being created in recent months with updated government reports. Question: how are there so many jobs supposedly available? Answer: they are not.

Great job BCG, this was a better experiment than the chemical warfare, online targeted emotional contagion attacks, and broken bones. Glad we kept you on.

The alarmist intro was a nice touch

@bw+1k1tter87 Nobody is hiring H1Bs? Where do you get your data. Recently, MS laid off 16,000 workers, and requested 6,000 H1B visas. And it is not the only company doing it, for sure.

Don't blame H-1Bs when you can't get a job. Nobody is hiring H-1Bs; in fact, companies have cut off all visa sponsorships.

Brown - [H-1B], White - [TNs], Yellow...[L1]

Why do you always try to find a blame but not yourself, being unable to get a job?

4-8 months ??? Crippled? You haven't applied to 2000 positions across all states?
Not crippled? Or perhaps it's 'Crippled'?

You haven't applied to 2000 positions in all states?"
Coding - ok... but this is temporarily because programming is simple now with AI, and everyone can do it. Run your personal AI agent on a server: state requirements, and it does the coding, testing, compilations and developed CI/CD pipelines for you.
In recessions, I noticed that companies always push for software initiatives very hard. Then they figure out they have too many coders but no requirement or validation parts.

Many jobs that I have been interviewed are still available, nobody was hired. I may agree that some jobs are fake to keep the HR/recruiters busy as if they are doing something to escape the lay offs.

@ae Most job postings are phishing expeditions for your personal data so someone can get rich selling it.

@b0 sybau

We can human traffic invisible minority groups as subject them into forced labor designed by hr under MJ in model e and have it be covered up. Why would we need h1b when we already pay to vulnerable citizens the lowest amongst their peers while ki-ling their external offers to get em

Ford is 💯offshoring the American and European white collar jobs. They have quietly released thousands of employees this year.

OP has some valid points the quarterly 10-Q showed Ford has allocated 500 million in employee separation charges. Do the math. Let’s say it costs 100,000 to separate 1 employee. That is 5,000 employees.

Recent reporting has shown that 25% of the job postings are non-existent jobs; 20% are job postings where a candidate has already been selected but they are posting for legal reasons. 15% are fishing expeditions for candidates to replace existing employees if they can find a better candidate. Another 20% are duplicate postings from multiple head-hunters. So maybe 20% real jobs.

Find a reputable head-hunter now and get the job search going

unfortunately even in the time of AI and co-pilot etc ,, many interview start with coding round to filter out the huge number of applicants in the market today..

yep, learn to code is a fools errand these days. already too many coders. over saturated market + AI = trouble in coder city.

Learning to code in the face of AI is laughable. If anything, Learn how to write strong prompts to write code for you and follow up prompts to break down what AI did for you.
