Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

The nerve

The nerve of them to let me off after I gave them everything for 7 months! Let me give you some background - I'm a recent software engineer grad and considered myself lucky to be hired by Dell. The pay was OK, but it was a big foot in through the door into the world of tech especially after spending an arm and a leg in college fees. I worked countless overtime hours trying to get fixes and patches out the door...so called "agile" method, where they basically guilt trip you into it. I can't believe my hard earned 7 month tenure was not worth it. I gave my blood sweat and tears and this is my reward....

It feels so defeated at this stage and a huge slap to the face after giving up my life for Dell.

Which is why I'm now in a much better place and employed in a fintech start-up making 3x the shi**y pay at Dell and their shameless corporate backstabbing culture. My advice is that unless you are at retirement age, there are plenty of possibilities out there. Keep your head-up folks (those that are not retiring). For those that are retiring, thank you for your services, sir(s) & madam(s), and thanks for sharing your incredible knowledge.

Up yours, Dell

I always felt that the ‘Agile’ was consultant speak for “Wing
It because management likes to keep changing specs”.

25+ years in corporate america/IT....it doesnt matter where you go, never for a second treat your job as anything more than just that and invest yourself emotionally. You are only a number for them and useful until they say youre not.

You are just a number to them, no matter how hard you work. Hope you find something better!

You are expendable. This is a life lesson. Do it to them before they do it to you.

This reads like a boomer wrote it. What twentysomething uses phrases like "the nerve of them", "blood, sweat and tears", "spending an arm and a leg", "slap to the face", etc? I'm not young, but I don't talk like this. This is stuff my parents would say. Troll.

It was a blessing 7 months!
You can now erase that stain off your resume.

No company is your friend, but dell is literally an enemy to your resume/career

Very valuable lesson learned while you were still young. Count this as a blessing.

A company that employs as many people as Dell does not care about you. Get over yourself.

The mistake you made was giving a cr-p. The company is not your friend. You are just a number on a spreadsheet, never forget that
