Careful not to let other Gen Z’s catch a glimpse of the oat milk. Their eyes light up like it’s a sacred relic, one actually let out a babyish ‘Mama!’ and puckered up like he was about to breastfeed. I had to look away.

Ran into a Gen Z this morning in the break room. He just rolled off the couch with an oat milk in one hand & a personal call in the other. Must’ve been a tough morning of self-care.

”the zoomers will pay my social security”

Lmfao. In 20 years your body will be broken down and repurposed into meat gelatin to meet hamburger demand but yeah, social security. Right.

So many miserable old boomers here struggling to deal with the twilight of a pointless life. Congrats, you gave 30 years so that Dell could be just that little bit richer.

Ah yes, Gen Z changing the workforce one iced latte and missed deadline at a time. Calling it “working smarter” doesn’t make it productive. But hey, at least they’re well-rested while the rest of us carry the load.

I went to a store the other day and a guy in front of me asked for two packs of cigarettes. The kid told him that was $1246. The guy stunned, said what? How can that be? The kid showing no ability to comprehend that nothing in the store is that expensive says: “I don’t know, that what the machine says”. This is Gen-Z. Minimal to no ability to use critical thought and reasoning given a specific situation.

Gen X has no problem using all the PTO and drawing a line between work and play. Gen X and Boomers are not the same.

I’m going to have to disagree with you about Gen Z. They are the most technologically advanced generation.
They work smarter, not harder. They figured it out watching us Gen X and Boomers. Work to live, don’t live to work.
I wish in my early career that I had drawn boundaries. I probably left 1,000’s of hours of PTO on the table. All for the man.
Gen X and Boomers viewed value by the number of hours we worked. That’s actually a farce. Gen Z has a hard line between work and personal life. We didn’t. We also raised them differently than we were raised. We taught them to speak up and push back if you were getting pushed. Why? Because we all wish way back when that we had the guts to push back. Instead we just took it and worked more hours. Where did that get us? Well, he we are on a layoff board complaining that one generation (that we raised BTW!) is lazy and useless. BUT they are the ones who have changed the landscape of how people work. Again, smarter not harder. They figured it out. The CEO and leadership don’t care about you as a person. You are a transaction, so that’s how they view work, as a transaction. They refuse to make it their life and are not afraid to tell you so. I admire that trait about them. And don’t forget, the generations before you, said the same exact things about our generations. If you can’t embrace the change and work with them, don’t complain when you are let go and become obsolete in the work force. Stop bashing them and mentor them. Just because our generation was pushed off a cliff and left to fend and fumble through life ourselves doesn’t mean the next one has to.

Both my kids are Gen Z. They have both entered their early professional lives, have focus and discipline, and while not yet earning lots of money they are both able to support themselves financially while also taking the first steps to building a nest egg. They've learned how to deal constructively with conflict, and how to be part of a team.

Not every Gen Z person is a basket case, even though it's easy to wave your hands and declare an entire generation unfit for productive professional life.

I worked at a startup before joining Dell, and while the ‘nap pods’ didn’t get much use, when they did, you could bet it was Gen Z catching some serious Z’s on company time! Sometimes even arguing over who had dibs on the next nap slot. Nap time is just part of the Gen Z way of life.

"I am curious as to how me running to the laundry room to put clothes in the dryer (3-5 mins away from my desk) is stealing and the folks that do maybe 25 minutes of actual work during their 8-10 hours in the office isn't."

How many appointments did you attend? How many times did you run to the grocery store? If you have kids how many times did you leave to pick them up from school or bring them to/from a friend's house? If you have a house, how many times did you do some yard work? How many times did you do non work related that things while you were on the clock?
Too many times to count over the years.

Gen-Z are the most narcissistic entitled brats that our Country has ever produced. These people need safe spaces and days off because of a myriad of issues that “trigger” them. Can you imagine these people having to plan and execute an operation like D-Day? They would be crying and demanding the boats turn around when the first shot from the Germans hit the beach.

These people better toughen up because life is hard and most of these twerps are not equipped to deal with it

Jesus fu--ing christ....between this generational nonsense, the constant toilet talk and the lame jokes about sn-t, is it any wonder the company is trying to get rid of people.... and that's before we mention the political rubbish.

I actually cannot believe you are adults, and I'm glad none of my colleagues on the other side of the Atlantic don't carry on with this cr-p.

They’ll call out of work because Mercury’s in retrograde and their oat milk was expired. Ask them to come in before 10 a.m.? “That’s a violation of my circadian rhythm and honestly, a microaggression.”

Gen Z is also known for a general awareness of social justice and political issues. They are often referred to as the laziest generation. They expect things to be handed to them and rarely want to roll up their sleeves.

Gen Z is often viewed as the most emotionally self-aware generation, which helps them connect with colleagues and advocate for their mental health. However, some might argue that Gen Z struggles to separate personal emotions from workplace dynamics, but effective conflict resolution becomes impossible if managers refuse to approach these issues with empathy.
