Severance Packages

For those who got canned (like me), what packages did you receive? I was with Ford for 7 years and got very little. Not enough to pay for my mortgage and car lease for the next year :(

@cd+1jv7pe07k The no-reemployment clause says it is “not contingent upon signing the waiver” (the CTP/severance package waiver), so it takes effect regardless of whether you agree or not.

Did anyone talk to a lawyer about it? The no sunset on it is pretty extreme. Also it just says “Ford”. Does that apply to working with dealerships too? I know they’re independent companies but I don’t want to find out the “Ford” in the section means anything Ford branded….

the no re-employment clause was in my separation paperwork, as well.

If you don’t sign the separation paperwork to get the 1 or 2 weeks of pay, I wonder if that no-re-employment clause is valid? I know it’s Ford’s new policy, but is it legal to reject people who were terminated without cause just because they were former employees?

If you file for unemployment, you force Ford to provide a justification for your termination (you stole something, beat someone up, etc.) or they have to pay unemployment (they get charged for it).

I get notifications from LinkedIn, CareerBuilder, Monster, etc. about jobs that match my resume. You know what? I’ve got 5 or 6 (I lost count) hits for Ford for exactly my skills and experience.

So I apply for the job and lowball the “expected salary”. I figure it must be giving their lawyers fits to come up with excuses. My little revenge.

I mean, is termination from employment without cause a valid reason to exclude someone from consideration for an open position where your skills and abilities are an exact fit? I’m betting that’s murky water, legally.

I guess this is our cue to leave the auto industry behind - it’s turned into a total sh*tshow the last 10 years

Does everyone have the section about never working at Ford again or even suppliers if you have to ever go to a Ford site?
