Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I just realized something...

I have friends and colleagues at verizon and several other companies and organizations.
I've heard many, many complaints about D.E.!. hires but I've never heard a single positive thing about them.
Never once have I heard someone say they were happy they had the D.E.!. Never heard that they saved the day or came up with the most ingenious solution.
Isn't that odd?

We had same type thing but with promotions as have known manger for 20 years and he mentiond game from above needed to promote at least one female if not two as we did not have enough Sr techs woman or minorities techs in title in group. Some good techs have been bypassed several times.

@qe
The architects of dei and those that support it want this
They want uncertainty, distrust and division
The left are, once again, using minorities
This time to create this very environment
Anyone pro dei are either ev!l, st00pid or brainwashed
It doesn't matter which
A tool is a tool and the outcome is the same

I was part of the November layoffs, but I remember specifically being apart of meetings where they specifically said that they're only going to hire a female for Dir role in GnT because they were majority men. I honestly wanted to scream, because I don't think they go to the HR function and say, "you know what, i don't think we have enough men in this department". This is why people hate DEI, it reduces you to skin-color and gender. You can also go to your DEI calendar and point to a specific gender and race that is very notably absent.................

I just took a new position and I can't be sure I was the best candidate or if I was chosen because of my minority status. My new coworkers are still feeling me out and it's not the usual getting to know you stuff. They're trying to determine if I have what it takes to do the job. The sad thing is I can't blame them because I don't even know if I do. I'm doing my best to show I earned it and I hope I am.

@jc when my school wanted a more diverse student body they started admitting students based on physical traits instead of academic abilities. As more and more students without the skills, abilities and potential were admitted, there was a corresponding increase in drop outs as these kids learned they didn't have what it took. There was an increase in dr-g and alcohol use/abuse as they tried to cope with the pressure. Eventually the school doubled down and just handed out the degrees without the work just so it looked like everything was panning out. I've seen plenty of BS, BA, MS, MBA, MD and PHDs that didn't deserve a GED.
So..... please tell us more about YOUR degrees, certifications and awards.

@OP it's really outstanding how ignorant some of you are. Do you all realize Diversity Equity and Inclusion isn't about just hiring minorities. It's about accommodations for the handicap, mothering rooms for women who recently had children, etc.

I'm a college educated black man with an MBA and PMP. I've not gotten interviews before because I have an ethnic name and once I've "altered" my name on my resume then I've gotten call backs. DEI and Affirmative Action literally gives people like me a fair shake. Put my work ethic and resume next to anyone and I guarantee it will have nothing to do with what I look like but thats not the reality we live in. We need allies to try to understand and have compassion, put yourself in the perspective and shoes of others.

Folks scream about meritocracy so much but let's be real that doesn't always give people like me a fair shake. Case in point Hegseth literally removed 2 black service members and 2 women from a list to become 1 star generals. A process thats LITERALLY based on meritocracy, so again tell me why DEI isn't needed to level the playing field?

@ed yeah... you know they put out cause they all have at least one kid. And they were probably attractive once upon a time. But, this is now. Unless you're into ug's or chubs it's not really a positive. Most have cr-ppy attitudes too. Either depressed or angry at the world.
And, like all D.I.E.s.... they certainly weren't hired on merit.

A positive.. OK... to protect our kids and future geberation this DEI experiment has proven Skin Color/S-x/Woke doesn't match merit

Ok... that's all I got!

All you racists should be happy there was a DEI program. Majority of DEI hires were Caucasian females.

Loser always need to blame others. DEI this, DEI that. You probably don’t know what DEI means. This country is being run by id--ts who also blame DEI. Look at the country now and look at the people running it into the ground.

Amen. DIE is nothing but exclusionary and discriminatory by nature. It lowers the bar and invites tribalism into a place where merit should reign. If you're not the most qualified or best man or woman for the job, that's that. Get better or buy a helmet, life is hard.

A diverse workforce is good for the company, the employees and the customer. Sorry you can’t handle everyone not looking like your pasty wrinkled middle aged reflection.

Funny how the only people loudly complaining about diversity are middle aged white dudes.

As a minority - I hate the DEI bullsh-t. I want to be known for my merits. I do not want anyone questioning me and that I belong just because I am a minority and got where I am because of preferential treatment. I let my knowledge and experience speak for myself.
