It turned out to be one of the more efficient ways to chase people away for free.

@kw 100% AGREE
People don’t get it. RTO is ok .. let it reduce your productivity. Fact is most companies are going this route. You’re only supposed to work 40 hours so work just that!

Look at this thread the teller commuter policy was just updated 10 days ago and nobody let us know that it was updated some of the verbiage on there about being terminated at Will and unlike last time where nobody knew where to return their equipment now they call out where to do with what?
@kw I feel bad for your team then, because as a working parent with three kids, even if I have to leave early for pick ups because childcare centers have contracted pick up times that cannot be changed or amended - I am always back online at night, taking calls on the go, working while I'm juggling my kids at home, etc., and have never once dropped the ball as a high performer here for 10 years. If you want to get something done, give it to a working mother and they will get it done with efficiency and grace.
Why are they still posting new jobs that are fully remote or telecommuting if the plan is to fully RTO? Why not cut straight to the chase if that's the plan?
@jp I wouldnt call it insane, but it just shows culture they want is not for you, or for me.
That said, I work out of the EP office and while I am being asked to come back, I will not be. I am going to continue to do my work from home and at the same time actively look to get out of this place as if my life depended on it (and it does....i value my well being and family). None of this is going to hit your performance until the end of the year and I fully plan to be gone and out of this place by then. I have been here 10 years and seen it all and seen enough.
No one is going to "fire" me either because i am doing the work of two people while working with 3 people in India, so guess what, I hold the cards, and you don't get to tell me what to do. Is my Sr. Director going to do all the work? LOL--ok! I plan to be gone by Labor Day at the latest, There is not going to be any raise or bonus this year based on the crash in earnings. All this is coming whether you want to believe it or not.
4 days a week.....not on my watch.
i found most parents abuse the parent card when they work at home and always do something to sc--w over the rest of their team like not being able to work on projects leaving early etc etc because they have to pick up their kids. while everyone who doesnt have kids gets sc--wed over
I encourage everyone to submit their feedback to the "Always-On Listening" survey page. I have been incredibly direct with my manager on how my productivity will be drastically impacted by this RTO order, and as working mother I now have zero access to addtional childcare to the already limited offerings we have in MN considering we are in the nightmare of summer camp season - no matter how hard we have scrambled when we registered for these programs for our kids back in JANUARY, the 2 week notice is honestly a death sentence for performance in my opinion. Additionally, there is no support for parents of young children with these arrangements - not to mention the lack of merit increases for directors and above (regardless of your opinion of them...we also still face childcare increases of 8% YOY and the "math isn't mathing" right now). My only sanity was the flexibility to WFH and I've been thriving in this arrangement for the decade of service I've given this company...now that is being stripped away from me too.
I'm sure listening surveys are not monitored the way they say they are, but at the very least, it's all we can do (in addition to pushing back on managers with logical reasons and asking for exceptions or compromises, especially for high performers).
It's not so attractive for those of us in MN to stay when we can go down the street to Target, Wells Fargo, General Mills, Cargill, etc all headquartered here and "only" requiring 3 days a week in the office...not this insane 4 days a week policy created as a blanketed approach by another old white guy executive.
July 7th - 4day/week
@fm for all employees of all location? That’s crazy.
@fm I think your management is making a very very bad bet as we enter summer. The company is already in a financial crisis but this RTO may send them into an operational one.
Employees can fight back and win this one and disable management. This has to be the poorest RTO execution ever and if I'm a competitor (which i am) I'm circling the waters on LinkedIn to pick off your best that you can't trust out of the office more than a day.....
Good luck
I can feel the remote mandate coming soon by comments at the management meetings
My Home office does not have AC so when the temps rise above 92 degrees we have to shut down the office for the health of our employee.
All hybrid who come in 3 days a week are turned to core with 4days. So hybrid is gone. That is the only change folks will target more states where we have office hubs. Once done they will target telecommuters. We’ve done this many times and we will continue the cycle as we’ve done many time under this CEO. Same old playbook.
No chance. To expensive.
I will believe it when I see it. Nobody in my business unit has been in the office since before the pandemic no office in my state either. If they force a move to an office state I am done that day and so is my backup in another state. Have fun figuring stuff out I become deaf d-mb and blind immediately. There are not enough chairs to put butts in anyway
Some states don't have a call center anymore. They closed most of them during the pandemic. They're too cheap to open up new ones. Nothing but rumors.
poppycock!
@b9 hybrid workers at UHC are being asked to come back in person 4 days per week beginning in July. So far, does not impact full time telecommuters.
@b9 No speculation here. Just a lot of experience in this company where if seen it done before.
We here in California are rooting for you Minnesota people to stand up and resist. If you all go back to the office they win and we'll all have to go back in. Have you ever been in CA traffic?
Think about it, you think they fire everyone in Minnesota ?
California is rooting for you guys!
I have literally heard nothing of this. Other than rumors from people on here. Does anyone know anything concrete on RTO? Sounds like people are just speculating hopefully, but if not what have people heard so far on the parameters of this?
