Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Question: Should I go back?

I have the opportunity to return to Fiserv after 3 years but it has changed with the 9 hour/5 day a week in the office. There does not seem like there is any flexibility . What is the Sapien tracking? How does that plan in all of this? Do we think the new guy is going to change and allow people to have a more work/life/balance because it seems that all they want is Work no Life or Life only to Fiserv.

Ask yourself why you left in the first place. If you are desperate to feed and house your family, by all means come back. If you think the culture changed for the better, you are wrong.

Again with the Karen’s, are you still in your parents basement and have nothing better to do than use old slurs? So incredibly childish.

Only if you are really hard up for money

To answer what is Sapience tracking :: it's a system on all non-gov contract computers that tracks computer activity to the minute. They require 8 active hours a day. Yes - lunch, bathroom breaks, the legal 15 min breaks we're supposed to get, in-person collaboration are all held against that time unless you manipulate your Outlook calendar so it picks up meetings. But it differentiates between meetings (no click, no type) and actual activity behind the scenes. Leadership claimed it was a personal productivity tool, then used to to demand RTO and to justify firings w/o a comp payout. Tracking at any company is normal - the way Fiserv does it is NOT. It's like Palantir lite. If I recall correctly, it's so invasive that it's illegal in Europe so take that with a grain of salt.

Only if you like being gaslit and micromanaged by "managers" who don't know ish about what your job is.

Not a great culture for employees and morale. Lots of leading by intimidation.

Go back but just don’t work for Chris Fagaustine. It’s not too bad here.

Don't. Until we see any meaningful changes to undo the micromanaging bullsh-t, nothing will change

Absolutely!

You should apply for a position, pass the interviews, and see what they offer. Then when you see they are offering to pay you less than you currently make, you can laugh in the face of the HR representative. They only see people cry from being let go, so it would be nice to see laughter for a change. You know, mix it up a bit.

Not much hope from a new leader since the board of directors is still the same. The toxic gremlins in leadership are still in place and plenty of trashy SVPs as well.

Little to no flexibility for WFH. SVP was recently asked what the limit is for WFH requests and couldn’t answer the question straight (It’s done via a request on Workday).

In office “collaboration” is wrecked by Sapience. If you’re not at your desk typing, clicking or being active on approved systems, your productivity is 0 so you can’t even chat with a co-worker about something in person unless it’s on your lunch or break to discuss an issue like an SVP recently mentioned (lol). It’s also bugged and sometimes doesn’t report properly.

Working hard doesn’t get you anything other than more work or more work. When we had 2 days of WFH, I felt like it was worth working for a purpose and achieving goals but now it’s like any cr-ppy company with little to no benefits and they knew when to choose to do this this because the market is terrible.

I think you should come as long as you can game the system like me.

Sapience is easy to fool. Accept a bunch of meetings and my sapience easily showing 7.5-8.5. and buy stocks so then i can relax while here. luckily i live close to office also and entire team is somewhere else. life is good at Fiserv in my case:)

you should stay away if you listen to the karens and dont know the cheat codes:)

I don't think it's a good time to work for Fiserv right now. The toxic culture, badging, Sapience took years to get to this point and it will take years to get out of it (if the new leadership even chooses to do so).

Unless you are desperate and need something in the interim, I wouldn't go back. Isn't FB still going to remain on the board. He will continue to have influence.

If you are this concerned about it before you even start, then just don't even bother.

Find yourself a fulltime WFH job somewhere else, instead.

I can't speak to the new CEO. He really hasn't done a thing yet.

But, my advice would be: Run away. Management doesn't have any direction besides combing though repots of every minute you aren't at your desk typing. They don't have a clue about the products they oversee and don't even bother to talk about them at town halls anymore. If you stand up to talk to coworkers (the purported reason we're supposed to be in offices) then your Sapience report is trash.

Morale is horrible and people who have been here for decades are abandoning ship.

After reading what's on this site... why are you here asking this question?! The answer is NO, RUN FROM THIS PLACE AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!

After 3 years? It is way worse now than before. Do not go back.

I just left. Do not go back. The badge tracking is insane (8-9+ hours, 5 days a week). The Sapience tracking of your computer su-ks (especially when managers demand you hit certain numbers for what is ultimately arbitrary information). The offices are over-crowded. SMEs have fled or are fleeing the company in droves, which makes doing the work incredibly frustrating. PTO is a trap; they fired people for taking too much PTO last year. Annual reviews are being nitpicked so you don't get even the lousy 2-3% increase. Meanwhile, you get told to be grateful and have a positive attitude, ha!

This constant cognitive dissonance / madness means you never get downtime from the office.

Anywhere is better than Fiserv.

Absolutely not. Stay far away from here. It will take 2-3 years for any of Frank’s cultural damage to be undone if Mr. Lyons even wants to change it. I suspect Frank isn’t going far and Lyons will just be a puppet.
