Intel 2nd level managers at the server team are the worst. They are a bunch of old Indian uncles who have been coasting since last 20 years. They hire people because of nepotism and put work on other people. Their style of managerment is the worst, and they have no technical knowledge whatsoever. I can name a few managers whonfit that criteria

So...Thanks to Pat now we have no R&D, technicians, engineers or testers. And Lip-Bu Tan's going to fire all the folks in management. I wonder how good the execution is going to be when we only have the overpaid sharp talking executives left? Fu-k'n Id--ts!

On the Intel team , A couple of people were rowing the boat and the rest were at the helm. So Intel fired all rowers. The real joke is: Its too late for Lip-Bu Tan to do anything that makes a difference. Good luck with that buddy!

About time, do some serious bloodletting. There are too many grades 9 and higher that provide no value.

I am former HR at Intel. Still love the company and own a bunch of legacy shares.

My thoughts:

Cancel all of the consulting contracts. The McKinsey, Deloitte, Kearney consultants are not telling us anything we do not already know.

Reduce 25% of VP and Director level.

Flatten the organization drastically

Reduce groups like Finance and HR by another 30%. Believe me, that is very doable and justified.

Bring in a new head of sales and a strong marketing leader. We need to reinvest in marketing…….we need renewed vigor for our brand.

Bottom line- the company could easily go down another 25k employees. It may be tough for a while, but it will drive important decisions on what they really need.

That’s a good start

Intel has too many VPs. VPs have created too many management layers. He should start from the top as opposed to Pat who started from the bottom. Rocks will get exposed once ELT is cleaned up and many of the VPs are gone.

@az+1 Exactly, fire those guys.

They are the ones preventing Intel from being better than [random company]

The techs on the front line are understaffed and making mistakes from fatigue. We have WBTs and courses to do that waste our time. There is currently a 700 wafer DRB in Fab34 from fatigue, but lots and lots of managers, calling lots and lots of meetings, every day...............

"Tan, who starts officially on Tuesday, told employees in a meeting that hard decisions are coming. This could mean the company could eliminate some roles, especially in middle management, which he believes is slowing things down. Experts say Intel’s former CEO, Pat Gelsinger, was too soft and avoided making tough calls—something Tan seems ready to change."

If you really want to speculate, which roles slowed things down, who are senior enough (as in middle management) to slow things down. Middle managers are not limited to people with "manager" in their job titles, or manage people.

All those consulting companies are the biggest nepotism organizations on the planet. Fire them first. Intel: a DOGE company.

Workforce can not only be measured by the number of heads. It is important to keep the hardworking ones that can work as a team and willing to learn and adapt. Keeping the bad apples is not only a waste but posts a danger of spoiling the good ones. I hope that Lip Bu is serious and smart enough to pick out the bad apples in the pile.

when more employee can't even revive the company , how does employee reduction revive the company? employee reduction only do short term saving but does not help to revive the company unless there are great products to sell
