Several Well med providers were hired by Kelsey Seybold, and also some non providers came over. Kelsey laid off a lot of employees since the clinic was sold to Optum . Some employees said enough of this, and got new jobs. Very confusing, hectic time for everyone.

So WellMed will no longer exist, meaning clinics and staff will be rebranded as Optum?

I am a current WellMed employee and may also opine that Dr. George Rapier is a sellout, both literally and figuratively. Company leadership loves to tout that Rapier started WellMed as one clinic in 1990. Why did he do it, you may ask? He wasn't happy with the care his own parents were getting.
Fast forward 30-something years. Are people happy with the care their parents and loved ones are getting at WellMed clinics today? Have you noticed a decline in care after WellMed’s affiliation with Optum and UnitedHealth Group?
But hey, as is the American healthcare way, Rapier worked hard and got his - patients be dam(n)ed.
Do take solace in knowing Queen, Adam Lambert and The Beach Boys once played at the private birthday party of Rapier’s (now ex-) wife at his Italian villa.
Thank goodness that sweet, sweet money could buy a few hours of tunes. You can listen to those bands too - on the radio while you wait yet again for an appointment delayed due to WellMed’s layoffs and clinic consolidations.

Yes. Wellmed will be effected. Wellmed will be gone by the end of the year. It's already shrunk to nothing.
@s4 Because Dr Rapier sold out and quietly left, and WM is being "integrated" into Optum.
WellMed has been with Optum for years . Why is WellMed shrinking .

Yes. 100% Texas is being impacted. We are losing close to 1/2 of our team. Everyone asks how these decisions are made. There is nothing consistent. On my husbands team there is a complete snake that no one likes but she’s a golden child with the big boss so she’s protected meanwhile people much better than her and being let go.
There is nothing you can do. The decision was made over a month ago. He knew the middle of March who will be let go.
Jump ship as soon as you can but the reality is that there are hardly any jobs out there so if you keep your job do the bare minimum and keep looking for something else. Be ready for Thurs and don’t let bitterness take hold of you. Lots of great people are being let go. After so many layoffs you no longer have the low performers left to cut. Now you are cutting from your 4’s and 5’s.
Dont let your heart be troubled. It su-ks but at the same time the shock has worn off and you learn to go with the flow.
