Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Get off being online and do something

Too many people think complaining online means they have done something to fix a problem. It don’t. It will make you feel better for a little while, but not make change. Remember, rich people and shareholders don’t care about you. You’re a tool to be used until you are worn out and then thrown away. If you die, they don’t care. In fact, dying quickly is the wanted ending. So, how to protect yourself and other workers? Start forming a union. Google the communication worker unions. Google how to start a union. Google success and failure stories. Make contact with union reps. No rich person will pay you your value or respect you and the only way to get those things is to act as a large group. Remember, 5 day workweek, vacation, 8 hours a day are unions. And stop electing people who get paid by rich people to sc--w you.

Start discussing salary with other workers. Management hates it, but can’t stop it. You’ll find out how sc--wed you really are. Don’t get mad at people making more, get mad at management.

Do something. I am.

@OP Unions were discussed back in 1999-2000s during the DOT.COM bust. It never took off. All the Tech companies were off-shoring and importing H1b visas as fast as they could . What USA citizens need to do is to go after H1b and other work visas. Push back as hard as you can. Make their lives a living he-l as well as for management. You have nothing to loose. I started with Compaq in Jan. 2000. I witnessed all the off-shoring, layoffs, mergers, spinoffs, and the lousy CEO's. I took the HPE buy-out in 2020, worked for another company with better pay for 2.5yr until I was laid off. I'm retired now. The only answer for you now is to fight. Get out of the fox hole mentality and start fighting.

@10q It's a lot easier to complain about things on the Internet than it is to actually do something to change them. 2026!

@OP

How's the unionization effort going? Haven't seen any notices of pending meetings or votes. Or, are you stuck in the Googling phase?

A slightly different take on the OP. . . I’m on here Bit$#ing to no end. But I’m still laughing all the way to the bank. Cushy job. Ton of RSUs. Capitalism has been good to me. But yes at the same time the mo--n-factor with leadership is a little higher at HPE than it was at Juniper.

@OP I admire the spirit and the goal, but the timing ain't right. AI, recession, India & China, non-stop Trumpian chaos and uncertainty. The zeitgeist now is to grab all you can however you can until it all blows up. No one has the time or discipline for a union.

@b8 What’s wrong with you?? We NEED a tech union and this is so FU--ING TRUE. Disorder, Disobedience. That’s the key.

If you want to unionize you are most likely not a capitalist, government and European employee mentality, no wonder our stock is trash
