Just to add, expat HR were useless. When I went to the id office and turned in the badge the process accelerated. Booked my own flight out with zero confirmation of the payout. When it did land in my bank I challenged it and got a detailed payslip from a Saudi HR dude, very grateful for his response. The system works but you can’t help to be anxious. I didn’t close my NBC account with a few hundred riyals. Got a text message on the plane before take off from NBC stating they’d secured the funds so drained your bank before going through the exit immigration.

I enjoyed my time there, made a positive contribution, disliked the bureaucracy from the company and all that’s been repeated on this discussion board , but a few of the guys I worked with are pure class human beings, so I’ve no complaints. Saudi is not the most fun place but it’s safe and secure and I made bank more than I did with Exxon and Shell.

@b8 resignations only require 30 days now, the company paying for a shipment may depend on years of service.

Depends on length of service. I went through it and got a huge bump over the resignation number after 10 years service. You will not get any paperwork showing what they owe you and your HR is transferred to say Riyadh if you’re in Dhahran. Fortunately they paid what they owed, plus a big sweetener and then followed up a month later with more cash. I stayed in Khobar and ran around every body I knew, phone calls, emails, office visits but total bullsh-t. Left and waited 2 months for payroll . They paid out, and then paid again. My supervisor got retired 2 months later . Be careful what you wish for.

If its an actual termination vs downsizing or not making it through the probation period, Aramco will get you out of the Kingdom fast. Actual termination used to rarely happen, so maybe things have changed since I was there. If you are really being terminated, you aren't getting more than a plane ticket home. Resignation takes 60 days and they used to pay for your belongings to be transported home, etc.
