Got a 15min organizational update from someone that's not my supervisor. I think this is it.

The acquisition of Ableto by Optum was going to end just like this...The axed a majority if inidividuals almost 3 years ago..that was the first culling..the people who were left thought it was not going to touch them......mergers are always like this unfortunately.....I was one of the first group of PA's let go.....and was able to land a great position somewhere else...but because of that i always have a 2nd job available just in case....
AbleTo, pre Optum, was a first class behavioral health org. I was proud to work there and contribute to growth. The leadership who ushered the program to Optum while continuing to spread lies to all working under AbleTo about retaining a separate entity hold responsibility for this loss. Truly a shame.
@e9 Thank you for that. It's a little tough to focus on the good we were able to do in the midst of this butchery
@kw thank you for sharing all this. More information than we will ever hear from optum itself
@kw I’m so sorry. And what a cr-p company to not let those of us who refer to ableto know that this occurred and that the service is no longer available to patients
I was a legacy AbleTo employee that was part of the huge RIF on 2/5/26. Nearly ALL of the integrated AbleTo team was part of the RIF- hundreds of employees. The service center, engagement center, coaches, therapists, program advisors, and clinical supervisors- GONE. There is a tiny skeleton crew made of people residing in New Jersey, some 1099 therapists, 4 program advisors, and 1 clinical supervisor left that I am aware of. Anyone living in California has their last day at 3/27/26. Everyone else has a last day of 2/27/26. I imagine more will be laid off after the CA employees are gone and they need less oversight. There is some sort of litigation going on in New Jersey, but once that gets settled, they will probably be gone next. Optum butchered so much, there is no way to reasonably keep working. It was a complete behavioral health gutting. Calls were scheduled for 15 or 30 minutes, but lasted 2 minutes. Cameras were off, microphones muted. We just had to wait for the email with more details. There are still so many unanswered questions. I will never work for Optum again.
@f1 they lost 63 billion in stock market value. That’s a drop in the bucket. They will get it back like they always do lie cheat and deny.
@er I don’t know how they will write-down the nearly half a billion dollars they spent on acquiring AbleTo. I hope someone’s head rolls.
@ez besides the one job posting for Minnesota, housecalls is on a hiring freeze which is not a good sign. They always have job listing for housecalls. Every manager seems to be bracing for impact
@ek eeek. Really nervous to see how much of housecalls is going to be cut.
@er agreed. Their image is forever tainted in my mind.
@ee agreed. The AbleTo program was really appreciated and helpful to members. It seemed so forward thinking to me at the time when the program launched for Optum a few years ago. One of the saddest parts of this “demise” of Optum is that less people will
have the care and support they need going forward. Each program cut means less care available. Every clinic closure the same. The rapid expansion of Optum seems very irresponsible to me now. :(
Have a feeling housecalls will be next.
Just an awful day today for AbleTo. My heart goes out to all the providers and staff who did important work every day.
@e9 thank you so much for this! It was more than we got in the 3 minutes Optum spared for us.
Housecalls employee here and just wanted to say thank you to the team at Able To, I had multiple patients who reported that your services were helpful to them. Sorry to hear the news today.
Legacy AbleTo employee here. I was let go today too. My heart goes out to everyone affected.
AbleTo got decimated today. So sad for all of us who did such great work. All destroyed by corporate greed. I’m heartbroken.
@db AbleTo Behavioral Coach here. We were told our last day is 2/19.
@de not the person you were asking, but I just got laid off in a 15 min 1:1 by someone who is in the organization but not my direct manager. I'm one of the AbleTo BH tech folks.
@dc so sorry to hear this!
@dc Which team within AbleTo? Who conducted the call?
@OP They just axed the entire Ableto team. The lady running the meeting was very flustered and basically kicked us out and wouldn't let us ask any questions. "Everything will be in the email from the people team"
Yep it's a layoff. End date Feb 27th
@d1 my meeting is today at 11 CST
@ad I received one too. I’m a behavioral coach.
What time is it at?
If you are cut, hold your head up high, show no weakness, thank them and go treat yourself for the day! You’ll appreciate the lack of stress in your life and you’ll land somewhere soon!
@b8 They layoffs in groups and 1:1. I've seen both and my team has been impacted both ways.
For those who have gotten this, what area are you in? If I had to guess, it is related to the announcement yesterday that Terry Clark is leaving. And with that will come various changes in restructuring. So-and-so will become such and such. So-and-so will move over to whatchamacallit, etc..
Would be helpful to share the areas/divisions where this is occurring. Nothing personal, but it does create an atmosphere of mass hysteria especially for people who suffer from an anxiety such as myself. I genuinely wish everyone the best in these uncertain times.
Got one tomorrow as well. Bracing for impact
@a6 nope, they lay off groups at a time, not just individual's.
Keep us updated
BH is doing actin of layoffs with loss of membership and use of new AI authorization tool. Leaders in that area are extremely non transparent and would stab in you in the back in a heartbeat.
@a6 they laid me off in a group. It can be done next ways.
If its a 15 minute meeting and its only yourself with no other context on what meeting is its a RIF. That's what happened to me.
@OP got one too. Technically part of optum behavioral care (recent AbleTo integration)
@a4 what line of business within Optum
What area?
