If you are still an employee, don’t get too comfortable, they do layoffs constantly. You are never safe here. You will always need to have a back up plan, seriously.
Execs make decisions continually that make no reasonable sense at all, with RIFs and policy changes, that make no sense, they have no experience in that area but they want to show they are cutting costs. It allows them to keep their sit on their tail feather job or on their yachts with their main job watching the stock price, no real effort, this company loves to cut low even tho the grunts (boots on the ground) are doing the work, down to skeleton crew, as long as they keep THEIR DO NOTHING job. Literally.
If you’ve survived a RIF you know they have no plan and no real guidance, it just happens like a mushroom cloud and those at the lowest levels have to scramble around and figure out how to manage, even when it’s not doable based on their expectations. This is not new, it’s part of their business plan apparently, lift up numerous levels of executives that don’t really do anything so they can cut folks doing the real work - TO preserve their jobs. It’s all very confusing since they claim to strive to make the healthcare system work better for everyone, I’ll tell you a secret, these execs that do nothing all day for patients or employees are only working to make the “health system work better for them” got nothing to do with patients, employees, or anyone EXCEPT them, and THAT is the culture when you work here. United is the anti Google, the anti Apple, when you hear of good work places they are the anti that too. Work here, just know you will never have any job security, you will be blasted with corporate BS balloon pics, that no one has the time to read 1/4 of the corporate emails sent, they will make sure of that. Best wishes all. Peace
