Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon stopped issuing new claude tokens

Amid budget constraints, Verizon stopped issuing new tokens..
sooner and later, most companies will catch up to the fact that how fast cost of AI will stack up compared to Human salary.

Rumors that some people were using claude for non work related tasks, so now we have a budget cap. If you are using a verizon claude token for personal use, they are hunting you down. No RIFF for you, out the door with Dan's foot up your a-s.
you have been warned!!

@b7 dans here to chop and collect his bonus and enable board members to cash out their stock options once it’s driven up … then it’s gonna tank and be a shell of a company …. We are so far away from where we started as the old Bells

I remember there was some training we had to do where one of the questions was should the cost of running ai be a consideration. The correct answer then was no. I see how that's turning out.

The vast majority of companies will run out of funds chasing the AI dream. Unfortunately, at this point they will not longer have the funds to hire employees to perform the jobs that everyone thought that AI was going to perform. VZ will learn the difficult way that at some point there is no one left to layoff and you must sell goods and services. Someone posted earlier that VZ needs more thoughtful analysis, rather than kool-aid drinkers. I worked at VZ for almost 30 years and it did not matter who was sitting in the executive chairs. None of them want to hear the truth. This is why Directors and Executive Directors spend most of their time preparing presentations. It takes a long time to twist the financial performance of VZ into something positive.

Wanna hear the best part? The revenues they expect to see ( Profits ) from AI will never materialize at the rate they keep cutting jobs. They need consumers to BUY their products and services but the better AI becomes— the more jobs it will eliminate. The more jobs eliminated, the less consumers that have money to spend on AI products or services. Companies will NEVER recover their investments on AI infrastructure just like VZ didn’t convince people to spend more money on their 5G service. At some point it will become Apparent that consumers aren’t willing to spend and they ( Companies) will NEVER recover their TRILLIONS in investment Capital. We already saw this happen with 5G and look at Verizon now. Layoff after Layoff after #Layoff…..

An AI Czar? That's hilarious. We don't need more blind Kool-Aid-Drinkers. We need to stop and look at the numbers. No one has shown ANY return on investment.
Remember the amazing AI thingy they built to reduce churn? Churn went up since they rolled it out. Have you seen any internal report that goes beyond hand waving that shows ROI? I'm invited to a lot of these meetings - and it's all BS.
So no, we don't need more AI. We need less Kool Aid, more thoughtful analysis, and a lot less Dan and his sycophants

They'll let you use it once they layoff more folks on 5/7. Be careful what you wish for.

It is funny how some VZ leaders at VP/SVP were pushing everybody to just use AI, first week a report came bragging of this employee or that on how they spent100s of dollars in a week, without even bothering to ask for what was the return to the business. two weeks later the top spender got a memo of do not spend this much LOL

funny enough all demos I have seen so far are not a true AI, they are there just to fill up a power point and justify existence of some.

Dan needs to assign AI Czar (in serious terms) with specialized selected team members and all AI has to be funneled through this team which would allow measuring cost vs return on investment. Other than that we are just kids in a candy store.
