Thread regarding Commscope Inc. layoffs

The Vistance Networks move is a classic "Prep-for-Sale" play

Let’s be real about why all support organizations are being moved under Vistance Networks: it’s to grease the wheels for selling off Ruckus and ANS.

By stripping IT, Finance, and HR out of the main entities, they’re effectively lowering the operating costs of the units they want to sell. Any buyer is going to have their own support infrastructure already in place; they don’t want our overhead. This move allows a buyer to "plug and play" the core business without the messy optics of immediate mass layoffs post-acquisition.

If you’ve been through a merger before, you know support staff are always the first to go. This restructuring just handles the "trimming" ahead of time to make the balance sheets look prettier for a handoff.

Here’s the reality:

The C-suite will walk away with millions and head straight into retirement if they want. The rest of us will just have to wait and see whether the acquiring company decides to keep us or not.

When Vistance sell both Ruckus and Aurora, what happens to the billions Vistance will have? Will they buy other companies to break apart? Or will the money be distributed to shareholders?

Maybe it’s time to get rid of the sales manager and the friends he brought in with their ridiculous compensation packages. We’re missing Chuck’s EBITDA target because we’re not generating enough sales — yet we’re paying stupid money to people who aren’t producing. GTFO!

Unless you have a niche function, you are not safe from layoffs. Hardware engineers have the most job security IMO.

If you’re just a general project manager… you’re not safe.

@b7 That all depends on the buyer. In most cases, redundancy will be eliminated right before the sale or shortly after. HR might not be the best example because HR is usually the first to go.

There have been sudden layoffs for two main reasons. First, for EBITDA reasons::: we know that’s all Chuck cares about so he can value his companies as high as possible. Second, the layoffs are a sign that there has been input from the buyer. The buyer doesn’t want to absorb redundancy. They expect Vistance to handle the layoffs for them.

So what happens to vistance workers? Do they get redundancy if aurora and ruckus are sold off?

E.g. say 1 vistance hr person in ruckus office. Ruckus is bought ..what happens to that hr person? Do they get redundant? Surely a an office that needs say onsite support function still needs that person if sold...

It was a prep for sale since 2024 when the OWN was sold. Remember Kyle said we won't sell assets for cheap. Later revamp new ruckus website, linkedin post, then a video about Ruckus that we are independent etc..it all ticks the boxes that the bride is ready ! 😂
