Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Will YL get terrible results again in this years SPS?

I bet he thinks that doing a meeting with f1 drivers will make us all happy.

His questions were ridiculous trying to compare what Ferrari do to his firing and cost cutting s t show.

Expect fairly soon we’ll be down to 3 staff and 2 laptops with everything being run by AI; 2 staff with the laptops and the 3rd to jostle the other 2 when they nod off.

These SP Surveys are a feel-good exercise in self-gratification for execs who can point to them to show the world how much they “truly do care about our most important assets”.

I was there back in 2016 when the CTO (glad I forgot his name) announced to shutdown KL (cyberjaya). Many good IT friends/colleagues where let go ruthlessly and fast. In no time BLR was set up.

Only those who were not there at the time, believe you can be sure of a future with/at Shell.

Shell should shut down the offices in India immediately. The assets will run just fine without any of the ‘support’ from there.
It would reduce company headcount by about 10k and then we might rank a bit more competitively when YL calls in the consultants again to tell him we’ve got too many people.

just remember that there is zero reason for any oil and gas company to operate in india besides cheap labor. they have no resources and no expertise. they’re simply so cheap that we’re letting sc--w up work over and over until they develop expertise

one day labor will go up and then all of those jobs will evaporate and move to the next cheap labor hub. you can’t get a 10% raise every year forever.

@x1 That used to happen in the US all the time. India is going to be a huge importer of LNG over the next several decades. Wael needs to get in the good graces with the Indian community by providing a lot of jobs. It's Shell India's time now.

@g6+1jz7m0yfh: Then I guess it is done only in India where they hire an expensive hotel and have a great diner party on Shell expense.

In India Shell leaders are taking good care of themselves, they know how to party. You got to give them that :)

Shell needs to move faster on cost cutting. Every department needs to go through severe cost cutting exercises.

@as they do at lower levels of the org. We-ponized to justify a lower rating so managers can protect their favourites who did a cr-p job but we’re 1 point higher on their leadership scores.

the after effects of the results were never clear to me outside of some note on the hub, but certainly there was constant pressure to take it and noise about it from line managers and GMs

now i hear nothing about it and don’t even see viva engage or hub posts about it

i suppose it depends on what you mean by “matters”

I recall huibert stated that Downstream felt entitled and they needed to be taught a lesson. Not really great leadership when other O&G kept downstream and was making a lot money and Shell just sells everything and only kept the assets that couldn’t be sold.

Now I feel cheated. I'd always gotten 98/100 employee engagement score, but there was never any reward.

However, one year we got a truly awful new manager and the whole group got 52/100. The punishment was for all the teamleads to retake the Shell leadership training. She didn't take the training ... it was optional for her. Shell DEI in action.

wael doesn't think about us at all

we’re just a cost that is unfortunately needed for the company to work - not fellow humans

this is why every video he does is super weird, grandiose, pointless, unrelatable, and self indulgent

also if you can’t tell over the last few years that the shell people survey no longer matters i dont know what to tell you that could possibly convince you

Isn't that like saying the Pharaoh had some slaves whipped because they said the Pharaoh could do better?
Who got punished? The person SPS ranked low or the people who rated that person?

The beating continues until moral improves

@as
Apparently they do. Last year the downstream SPS results were so bad Huibert enacted a force ranking where at least at 5% needed to LOWER due to his abysmal SPS results.
