Sick of working with bankrupt contractors

What a joke. I am tired of being in projects with contractors on the verge of going bankrupt not paying their bills. Contractors have been squeezed so hard since COVID it is a total joke what this industry is becoming. Who wants to work with companies that don’t pay their bills and don’t have enough money to do things right or safe? Have to go low cost on everything with poor quality and make us work so much harder to try get it good enough.

We used to say we worked with the best and the brightest. Now we work with the cheapest and that’s it. Whoever says they can do it the cheapest is who we go with!

@tv working with these bankrupt companies is a joke. The race to the bottom and cheapest. The executives have no clue how the contract and specification requirements are being ignored to cut costs. We will start seeing more cost and schedule blowouts and safety issues for sure.

I had the misfortune of wasting two years of my life at Golden P ss with the firm that went t t ts up. Not going to lay blame on XOM since the contractor was a complete s show. I started looking for another job when I heard from multiple people of them not paying their bills as well as not being able to make payroll in about a month. They managed to keep going for another year after I left.
But I have a nice Carhartt jacket to remind of the place. Last safety award before people started getting seriously hurt and getting ki-led.

Do you people ever do anything besides whine?

These posts are bereft of any usable information. It’s just an endless stream of complaints about basic day to day BS that comes with every white collar job in the 2020s. Just leave the workforce of you can’t handle this.

When I used to bid jobs we would use a 20% markup for Exxon on top of the original bid.

Too many rules and regulations and getting paid is just about impossible.

You are going to get third rate contractors because of this.
