Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

50 odd SVP's promoted to Dir's in the Enterprise Data Office?

Amidst layoff's? LOL. Given the number of D promotions, did I somehow miss the closing of the data articles within the consent order? Some of the names on the promotion list to D...laughable. Zedro knowledge of anything even remotely related to data governance, but they excel in bootlicking for sure.

After letting go of several PwC Contractors, Sh!ttybank is now shifting the expense to pay for Ernst & Young E&Y Contractors. LMFAO !

This is Sh!ttybank's idea of saving money. LOL! Who knows. Maybe E&Y is charging less than PwC and Tata Consulting.

@qc

Yeah. So the Only way to become a Director is to Quit Citi, And work for a New Employer (NOT Citi).

@p9 I was told that SVP to Dir role is a very hard nut to crack....very hard sell unless the hiring manager knows you or you know someone who knows the hiring manager well and can put in a good word for you

@ez Typical Citi. Citi is the haven and home for the Rejects and Dregs from GS, JOMC, Morgan Stanley, BofA, Barclays, etc..

I previously posted about how Secretaries / Exec Assistants / Admins at the former can get Officer-level jobs in Citi. ROTFLMFAO! Citi is for people like in the movie "Working Girl" (Actors: Harrison Ford, Melanie Griffith, Sigourney Weaver) where the only way Secretaries / Exec Assistants / Admins can get out of the Cyclical Purgatory Sisyphean Career of never getting out of being Pigeon-holed as a Secretary / Exec Assistants/ Admin and move-up in the world or company.

There are Secretaries / Exec Assistants / Admins in GS, JPMC etc. who were courtesy "promoted" to Associate-level (Citi's equivalent of AVP/VP) after 10 to 15 years ! Their Secretaries / Exec Assistants / Admins should come over to Citi to get the Salaries and Officer-title asap !

It's NO wonder Citi has the financial, data and operational problems it has because Citi can only attract Low Calibre Dregs employees! LOL !

Citi and its employees are so insular in their Citi-Bubble Matrix they simply do NOT believe that GS', JPMC's, Morgan's etc. Secretaries do at least some of the work of Citi's VPs / SVPs / Directors.

At best Citi has Nurses doing the jobs that Doctors should be doing, but Citi can Only attract and retain Nurses. What could go wrong besides FUBAR Data Architecture, accidentally wiring Billions if not Trillions of US$ to the wrong recipients every few months, Consent Orders, monetary fines, MRIAs, etc. ??? LOL!

3/4 of that list were people who were SVP and applied for another director role. They promoted themselves. Don't give the managers credit for promoting people. I bet you many of the vacated directors quit out of frustration.

We work hard for Citi, not you bootlickers SVP, D or MD setting up meetings and send out meeting notes. We earned our pay And job! All your titles and so called powers will go away if top management changed. You take your boothlicking to go an we will stay because everyone knows bootlickers can not do their job no matter how much Citi paid them!

@ey I'm the one who wrote below about the glorified Exec Assistant making meeting decks and sending meeting minutes afterwards, now having made a D. I am moving elsewhere. Spent 10 months but landed a new job with a level and salary bump. Just waiting for bonus to get parked in the bank before I hand in my 2 weeks notice and take my talent to the new place that respects me far more than Citi did

You jokers are stressing. Take your talent elsewhere. Just leave Citi and work somewhere else. Yes, I realize that it’ll take a whole handful of months of searching and applying. What would you rather do though? 6 months from now, still be working at Citi or 6 months from now nailing that job interview somewhere else.

Same in my group. Nonsense promotion, non sense title. C level is unrelated to actual responsibility or ability or anything job related. Just to bump boothlickers’ pay band! Shame on management! The sad part is Citi is too big to fail and allow these cockroach 🪳 get high title by any dirty way and collect big checks. Meanwhile top performers stay low title and feed the 🐷

@cy There are Indian and non-Indian names on that list. Doesn't matter. The issue is 43 D p;romotions during layoff's. One of the names (non-Indian) is well known to me on that list. I have been in many large meetings involving said person. The only output that this person ever generated were the meeting deck and the meeting minutes afterwards. Nothing else. At least not to my knowledge. This person is now a D. Any wonder that half of PwC had to be brought in with the hope that consultants could kickstart data governance ops, given that people that Citi brings in as D's and MD's are just plain clueless in their field?

Sorry to hear that, Ash Nawani himself has no clue about Data and process improvements and he was made head of Data and he must have promoted his Indian buddies so not surprised

@b7 Well yes, the EDO is spread out heavily in the US obviously with decent sizes in South America, London, Singapore and Hong Kong as also India. Still, 43 D promotions is a LOT for a work in progress org that hasn't achieved much yet - especially during layoffs which will continue in Mar and maybe in multiple quarters in 2026. Irrespective of whether their salary is on the lower side of traditional D's or not. I believe with D's, stocks need to be given and if so, then you're vesting the future of your company to these people, many of whom don't deserve it

Most of these promotions were also done in other countries and not in the United States. Take a look at the names and where they are located.

@b2 I can’t comprehend how for that size of organization that 43 people were promoted to director. I don’t even think USPB had that many.

@aq To be exact - 43 total SVP's were promoted to D this year in the EDO alone. Nawani sent out the list with his congratulatory message earlier. This organization really is a joke for anyone that does high performance work but is not inclined to lick boots, expecting that the work will speak for itself

Actually it can be true. Promote SVP to D level at a reduced salary than the current D’s in place. Run off the older D’s at the larger salary.

Their vacancies are filled by their replacements at a reduced salary.
It’s the Jane Fraser McKinsey way….look at it that way. In her world, everyone wins.

The company wins now that you’ve managed to find people to do the same job for less money. She wins because she still keeps her overinflated bonus\raise. The D’s she let’s go win because they now have an exciting opportunity to find something else outside of Citi.
