Fab Facility Operations(Formerly Corporate Services) Impact?

Any word or speculation on technician impact? Mech, IWS, UPW, WATR, Chems, Gases, etc.

@bz flipping bb to gb to contract companies that are professionals will probably cut 50% of them since they run so much more efficiently. we’ve gotten so soft and the outsource companies have no patience running on thin margins. I guess it is a job better than flipping burgers. Oh wait McDonald’s wont hire me. Got to finish my OKRs

@br What you are stating reflects the current level of GB roles. If the existing BB are flipped to GB then you have the same people you more or less trusted before doing the job now.

Even if it were not the same people, you should expect the GB hired for more fab-sensitive work to be qualified, or rapidly walked off the site.

Flipping BB to GB doesn't mean the standards are lowered. It is just the company deciding that it can no longer afford to be so vertically integrated. In many cases you would find that the contract companies are more specialized at the task, and more willing to fire low performers than has historically been the case for BB.

There are a number of facilities contract companies out there with a lot of experience. Intel has chosen in the past to do everything in house but that isn't how most large manufacturers operate.

Regardless, the change is coming.

@b6 I mean, you really don't a contractor touching DI water that serves the factory, or anything with liquid or air discharge points of compliance.

Most of the FFO green badges are pretty low-skill since contracting companies don't pay them high enough, and the BBs are held to an incredibly-high standard.

While equipment techs might impact a tool if they make a mistake, facilities techs can shut down the entire factory

@b2 I agree and think that it makes sense for Intel to outsource most of what CS was doing. That is about as non-core as it gets, as important as construction and the other services are to Intel.

As with other groups to be outsourced, a few will remain in the group to manage and monitor the outsourcing work. For example, Supply Chain was outsourced before and that is coming again.

Also keep in mind that it will be years before another shell or other major construction will be done, considering the number of empty shells which the company has built.

But mostly it is about the company not trying to be so vertically integrated.

Definitely yes for OR RA. Look at the list of titles impacted in the WARN notice.

FFO was hit hard in Ronler. I'm sure it's coming as they outsource. AZ Warn notice was just increased from 172 to almost 700
