Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

You think age discrimination is not real it is trust me!

https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/22/tech/workday-ai-hiring-discrimination-lawsuit

Its total bsh!t I have been turned down by over 200 companies. I changed my resume to say only 10 years experience finally got some traction. This AI bsh!it is real and its sad I have a lot of very good experience. I am not a dinosaur I have gotten very relevant certifications in just the last 2 years, but I had an interview last week, the guy commented that my resume had discrepancies on I asked what. He said you have way more experience than you stated. I said it was by design. He asked why I said the machines discriminate. He then stated he understood he had been looking for over a year before he landed his job.. It's real and it really su-ks

I hear you—right after turning 50, I was unexpectedly placed on a PIP without any clear explanation. Shortly after, HR called to inform me that my employment at Dell was terminated, citing vague "performance" issues. Luckily, I didn’t let it slide. I emailed a high-level executive at Dell, laid out my case, and threatened legal action. They never responded after that. My performance was consistently at 100%, and I was the most productive member of my team, while others were barely contributing. Too often, Dell targets the wrong people for layoffs, letting underperformers slip through their flawed system. No matter your age, it’s unethical for Dell to fire dedicated workers, yet they keep doing it. Don’t let them walk all over you—push back with a lawsuit if needed.

If you're on PIP then can you skip doing any work and wait it out? This would be ideal for me.

I am the original poster.. I was laid, and not a week went by they changed the titles and hired a 22 to replace me. Yes it is real.. They gave two exhibits upon exiting showing exhibit A and exhibit B with the ages of who got laid off. Guess what no surprise anyone over 50 and had at least 7 years tenure. Thanks DELL..

"Together, the plaintiffs, all over the age of 40, claim that they submitted hundreds of job applications through Workday and were rejected each time — sometimes within minutes or hours."
Every damn time I put in a vacation request through Aspect, it gets auto-rejected. It’s like some managers go out of their way to make sure you never get a break. I’ve never once been allowed a proper vacation under some of these a--holes

I was targeted as well when working at Dell. Over 50 of course. It start's when they you put you on PIP for absolutely no reason other than what they made up!!!.. This was the first time I've been in trouble with HR in 35 years and after working for several computer companies so I know it was not ME. Then I understood. Too old and earning high salary in my job grade made me a target.

I don’t know why people are downvoting this post. I guess you can downvote this comment too. Ageism is very real. You may look at boomers with scorn, I remember being young. But nobody stays young forever. Some old fogies lose their value because they don’t adapt and learn, but you can’t judge that just by their age, just like young people can’t be judged as being incapable just because of a lack of experience.

@b2
Dell's meritocracy is a myth. Tons of hires get in through connections, and good luck ever climbing the ladder.

Discrimination exists at Dell.
I have taken all the recommended company AI training, passed the tests, and have additional AI training from WPI (who doesn’t) as well as wrote a book on the subject that I’m shopping around (wish me luck).

I have applied for ten AI related positions internally and never got past the screen. They don’t provide solid reasons for rejection.

Old timers are more valuable nowadays due to AI.
