Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Plant Engineering, 3M Center

A little birdie has reported that Plant Engineering 3M has until December to come up with a transition plan. Not sure if to JLL or CBRE however, with an April deadline. Sorry folks, but 3M continues in its decline.

Just remember to start from the top. Too top heavy.

Boot 'em all. they were looking for a job when they came here. No packages. Just boot'em! Soft times make soft men!

Is that "little birdie" their former HR person? Makes sense. Get rid of all the over-priced help and replace it with much more over-priced help. Good job, 3M!

Sounds too good to be true. 3m is going to decertify the union? Interesting.
Never say never, but the Union just ratified a contract.
Of course, management doesn't know how to read the contract, so maybe this is truth.
3M is glacial at best, so they better get moving.
Maybe they are going to shut the site down like Fairmont. Then every swinging Richard at the Center should be sh*tting bricks.
Whoever started this thread does not understand how a union and contract negotiations work. Close it down sure. But it would be negotiated for the union people. The non-union would be SOL.

Doesn't work that way. You can want very badly to retire but watch a younger person get booted, anyway. It's all about the distribution

There are people ready to retire waiting for lay off package. They can save some young folks jobs

It feels like a morgue.

BB was notorious in his previous CEO job to outsource work like Plant Engineering to third parties to cut expenses and then use the savings to buy back shares.

The silliest part is these companies often "offer" a position to the soon-to-be-former employee at the contractor company. While the employee gets a 25 percent pay cut, fewer vacation and Sick leave days, slimmed down medical and dental insurance coverage, and has to work in the office 5 days a week.

The only solution is to quiet quit even more until the job market improves enough to get a better job where the bosses actually appreciate good work.

3M Center used to be packed with cars of highly motivated, productive, and dedicated employees. Now it's being turned into a morgue.
