Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Prediction, HP and Dell Merge in 2026

A merger between HP and Dell could create a global technology powerhouse with unmatched scale, operational efficiency, and market reach. By combining their strengths in personal computing, enterprise solutions, and supply chain management, the merged company could drive innovation, reduce costs through economies of scale, and better compete with major players like Apple and Lenovo. Additionally, aligning their R&D efforts and customer service infrastructures could enhance product offerings and improve customer experience across both consumer and enterprise markets. The current administration may allow such a merger if it demonstrates clear benefits to U.S. competitiveness in the global tech industry, promotes domestic job growth, and does not significantly reduce competition in key market segments. Given the strategic importance of maintaining leadership in technology, regulators could view the merger as a way to strengthen the nation’s position in a rapidly evolving global economy.

Never going to happen, even if the AI you used wants it to. Makes no sense plus regulators would block that all day

@g9 Or maybe its so best buy will actually carry Dell's POS computers? I don't know if it's like this everywhere but no Best Buy or Walmart anywhere near me carries Dell computers. No wonder we're lising marketing share if we can't even get these bottom of the barrel chains to carry our stuff.

Dell is buying Best Buy. That way they can get Geek Squad. :)

Bold of you to assume Dell wants more printers and legacy baggage. If this happens, I’ll start snorting synergy.

Is this before or after Walmart buys them in a joint venture with Columbia Records?

@b1 The only personally purchased computers I have owned in the past 20 years have been Apple. Most of them kept at least 5 years. (One was stolen in the years before being able to track them, and one damaged when knocked off a cafe table onto a concrete floor and the opened stepped on by a waiter. (It was quite comical looking back, no one was injured)

"Dell PCs are a better quality" In my experience dell PCs and laptops need major components teplaced under 2-3 times a year, so I trash them as soon ad the warranty is up. Everyone HP I have owned made it past the 3 year mark without a single component failure.

If ever there was a copied and pasted answer from ChatGPT, after being prompted to reflect positively on a merger between these companies, then this was it! We’re onto you pal!

The current administration would only allow it if it lined their personal pockets. They are, in fact, coin operated and their actions showing this have been quite transparent even though they don't broadcast it to those outside their circle.

Given the dearth of US based PC makers I doubt that the FTC or even the EU would allow this without serious concessions. All across the two companies’s portfolios certain businesses would have to be shed. HP is already a big PC seller, although I hate to say this, but Dell PCs are a better quality.

HP is more likely to buy Pure to improve their storage portfolio and a network equipment operator.

Dell and the words "domestic job growth" don't belong in the same sentence. It's laughable. The only thing Dell promotes is "open to work" and gratitude posts on LinkedIn.
