Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Why are they pretending RTO is better?

Returning to office life just feels like a huge step backward. The noise, the constant interruptions, the long commute just to sit in a chair for eight hours under bad lighting trying not talk to anybody. I get more done at home in less time and without the headache.

It’s hilarious to me to read all these complainers crying about returning to the office. I especially enjoy the confirmed bias of reading studies that say people are more productive at home. If that’s so, it would be awesome to get THOSE people when I call in, instead of the ones that ask me if they can call me back because they haven’t logged in yet though they are supposed to be ready for calls 20 minutes ago. Or even better they call you back and say oh I’m still logging in while you hear their kid, dog whatever in the background that is clearly more important than doing their job.

Please give me the number of these more productive people that work from home because so far my daily calls to FSC, assignment, engineering and everywhere else I only get the people that aren’t productive. But of course, it’s nobody in this thread that are the slackers right. I mean you’re so productive you don’t have time to post ion this forum on your work hours. Yeah, right! Please spare us all. If I were a call center person I would be thrilled they asked me to come back to work. Especially considering that could just as easily replace you ALL with AI and not skip a beat.

Wonder if they’ll try to shift the unionized jobs to us if there is a work stoppage? Maybe this is part of the plan as those folks are still working from home.

Ok guys and gals, time to close this out. You see, @bq+1k22wtq4k deems it better and fair. With four exclamation points even.

Clearly no possible counter to that well-ressoned post. We are done...

@OP There are actually several replies I agree with, but personally I think the biggest fans of RTO are the ones that only know how to climb the ladder by face to face bullsh-tting. Remove the face to face interaction and they have no idea how to stand out.

All the complaining is not going to change things. They don’t care how we feel, grin and bear it and move on.

@b1

You mean that managers should actually do their jobs every now and then? Heresy!

Easier to blanket-punish everyone so of course that's what they do.

So right! I have never, not even once, witnessed an instance of an in-office worker spending any time off task. Never any vacation chat, weekend plans rundown, recap and reaction to the sports ball game, cat talk, etc.

Nope. All heads down work, work, work all day every day. You should shout this from the rooftop so all can be enlightened by your wisdom.

And when you are through feel free to take a headfirst leap.

@a5 I don’t like being punished for others behaviors. Each individual doing this type of thing should be penalized, not everyone.

There are a couple that are decent in Basking Ridge but I won't tell you where they are cuz you might be the stinker.
Most walk right past 'em every day. Keep your eyes open!

Because vz leadership....we just have followers.....whatever is in the news they just follow.....there is nothing in our leaders that show innovation, new ways of doing things more efficient...etc...they are just cookie cutters.....see our stock price?....wait and see in about a year or so.....

@a5 study after study has proven that people were more productive working from home after being sent home form Covid. People worked more hours, took off less time, took less sick days, and often worked well outside their business day. I assume your just a whinny jealous B, or a high level of manager that missing having their ego str oked.

Because for too long too many people took advantage going to tennis lessons and Costco runs or holding a daycare from home. The company simply cannot afford these charity cases any longer. It’s time to RTO and actually work.

It’s because when it comes down to it, most of the upper leadership are woefully subpar at actual people leadership. They do not understand a working culture that is connected around digital communication because they haven’t done actual work in a long time. Going from investor call, to round of golf, to industry conference to kick it with investors is not work. They only understand the in person st-----g of egos unfortunately. I have yet to meet someone over the sr director level that has a full grasp of what the people reporting to them actually do. Hence the new NYC office which feels like a desperate attempt, by people who are so out of touch, to bring back the glory days of Mad Men.
