Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is it all or some remote employees

Have heard all remote employees being let go with return to office initiatives and no option to move and work out of an office or apply as internal candidate to other postings. Somebody else said only remote jr IC impacted.

@b1 interesting as I heard of a similar case in LTD where a few weeks ago remote worker changed to hybrid at a site unrelated to group and was spared. Curious to when those doing the notices where notified and if they were told how many to cut across org and got to make decision. As it was AM that notified the folks I know of makes me think that level. Nothing like coming back from a long weekend to that surprise - just a bummer all around.

@av it’s remote listed on workday. In LTD, a manager favored a remote worker and changed her location to hybrid and spoke to her in private to move her closer to NM site . She did not do that for some other worker whom she didn’t favor and let that remote worker go

At the NM site, a few employees who worked remotely for the factory were given 4 weeks to relocate to NM and show up in person for work or lose their jobs. I only heard of 2 that refused and they quit their jobs. Because they quit, I suspect this is not part of the layoff head count.

@at no option to relocate but in an area not near any sites. Impression given was all remote being eliminated but maybe I assumed that and all a bit of a blur now. Teammate did ask if could relocate and was told no option.

The question here is whether people were hybrid or remote. Many hybrid have largely been working remote. Hybrid needs to return 4 days a week as of September.

They are tightening regulations to allow new remote work hires (and application of people to remote), but there has been no blanket action against remote.

@a4 what was the communication regarding RTO to you?

Most remote workers are being given an RTO option.

I am remote and nothing yet seems to indicate I am affected. Remote policy is an amazing boon to Intel that's keeping some highly productive employees onboard despite the sh-t show.

About half of my team is still remote after the cuts. It’s not all.

I’m officially remote, apparently not laid off in this round, and no sign so far that I’m being asked to RTO.

So after seeing a few comments on here in conflict with what they said back when the RTO was announced, checked Circuit and it seems there’s been some updates to the policy as of 7/8. At least the part regarding FT remote workers. It is now “at the discretion of the BU”

There is no blanket. It really comes down to your boss and their boss. They make the lists.
