Do you try and ram it though now before they fire you, or do you just cut bait if you can find a lifeline out of this mess?
Really burned out, have never taken it, I could very much use the two months off, have never enjoyed the benefit.
Know I’ll have all kinds of time once they fire me, but that’ll be stressful time off which reinforces the truth of so many Intel employees: we’re mediocre pieces of sh-t who don’t deserve to be in this industry.
Just take it and start looking for a new job.
Your performance will inevitably suffer from the burn out or from your absence, and Intel will hold it against you either way.
Here is what i did in 2024. I qualified for my 4 week sabbatical early in 2024, planned to use it later in the year (2024). However in October i got an ISP, which part of the agreement is that anyone who qualified for Sabbatical gets it cashed out (4 weeks = 4 weeks of pay, 8 weeks = 8 weeks of pay).
I was glad i stuck around long enough to get my Sabbatical cashed out when i got my ISP (along with my years of service at the company).
This is what i did and glad I got my sabbatical cashed out. Its up to you on how you want to approach the sabbatical, just giving my 2 cents.
Take it now if your manager allows and use it for job search and career making decision if you don’t want to be at Intel. One of my friends did this, took sabbatical, prep for interview , got a job and announced departure when back from sabbatical.

Save it in case you leave or are terminated. But understand the rules for your state. If you leave you’ll have 8 weeks of paid buffer to search for new job or onboard/transition to new job. In my case I job searches while still employed and used the 8 weeks sabbatical pay as glide path until next paycheck started coming in. Use sabbatical strategically if you want out of Inhell. Don’t waste it vacationing.
I would say take it. You can do some things you like while job hunting. Tech market is pretty tough right now unless your an AI programmer :-).
I was asked to leave in November. 2024 I was rated outstanding and promoted - so not a POS :-). I had a sabbatical due and they paid me out - by law they have to do that (Prorated) in California and some other states.
Look around. Why would you think Intel should pay you not to work? Think you’re ELT or sumthin’?
If you need a break, take it. You can job hunt during it too if you want.
