Don’t they have to give the age distribution before people sign for severance to everyone 40 and up?

@e2 that age discrimination lawsuit is never gonna happen in a million years. The IBM lawyer crooks have already seen to that. Dream on. The situation is akin to the IBM Union - it was an excellent idea, but sadly never amounted to much in the end.

What significance does "retirement eligible" even hold in 2025?

Didn’t people sign away their rights to sue against age discrimination as part of severance package?

Is that even legally enforceable?

A "age discrimination lawsuit" is coming. IBM will be forced to provide the age distribution for the most recent layoff. Arvind and his cabal will get their fat bonuses. IBM can afford to pay penalties for age discrimination.

It’s all corrupt to the core - they are just worse at disguising it

I feel like the OP of this question is actually one of the ELT trying to get the data that HR would have been able to provide had they not all been RA’d over the years. Nice try Alvin and chums, nice try.

Unfortunately IBM has become a rudderless dumpster fire for over 40 decades once Gerstner came in "to save IBM". SMH. I was there. During that long decline, IBM also became one of the most WOKE companies out there. It was pretty well known internally IBM got quite good at taking out older workers while avoiding age discrimination lawsuits; of which there have been many. I know a few great IBMers with more than 30 years (much more) that were taken out by this recent RA with people leaving 12-4-25. So you might be surprised by the number with many years there. Some still doing great work and many just like the walking dead putting 1 foot in front of the other hoping for 1 more qtr, 1 more year etc. Moral is no longer in the IBM dictionary. They stopped caring about employees 4-1-93 Gerstner Day.

Your question is about how many of us are over 55 and been in IBM for 15+ years. I have no idea, but I am sure not many.

Those who remain have gone through countless RAs, which means they have proven to be indispensable to IBM despite the agism, shift in strategy, executive changes (bringing in flavor of the week strategy) and on and on.

That number is surprisingly resilient despite the management intent and younger employees' contempt.

Ironically, AI revolution is in favor of very experienced older people.
