Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

H1Bs have ruined global tech

Many long tenured associates were let go yesterday in global tech. H1B abuse is so rampant in the area.

I'm a month new reqs will be made and h1b drones will be hired.

Walmart H1B jobs are still posted, all solid 6 figure jobs. They aren't saving money, just bringing people to the US to outsource the jobs.

Just doing the needful….one job outsourced at a time.

The Indian caste system is alive and well in Walmart mainly due to these H1B workers getting into management positions where they exclusively hire their friends and/or fellow H1B companions.

I have seen numerous accounts of where Indian managers for H-1B workers to work long hours on the weekends and at night

@bb the ship for “cheap American made goods” has sailed over decades of both parties failing to recognize the long term impact of this problem

It is ethical and morally correct to reshore jobs in America. But, if you do not have the foresight or a strategy and just come in g-ns-a-blazin expecting immediate results you know NOTHING about merchandise construction or supply chain. I was a planner the last time Trump implemented tariffs. It was chaos because it was impulsive, inconsistent, and driven by rage.

  • not a democrat who agrees we need change…but long term, sustainable change.

@b0 bruh we are a global company and America has not built out an affordable education system and lacks the talent pool.

Is it a humane thing to do to ask USA to stop selling and exporting it's products in/to all countries ?

Greater penalties or fees for each h1b sponsor, should be $350k+ fee for each h1b role.

The H1B system is broken. It’s not about merit. It’s not about diversity. It’s about exploiting labor to fatten margins. Until we fix that, tech will keep getting cheaper, sadder, and worse for everyone /except the execs.

@aa 100 percent. the gov is getting more stict for h1bs but now companies are just shipping jobs overseas. there should be some kind of tax applied or tarrif to each company that ships jobs overseas. keep the jobs in the states just like every other country is keeping their jobs. it's a human thing to do. i have nothing against chinese trying to keep jobs in china and nobody should have issues with us trying to keep our jobs here.

Now it is more outsourcing. H1B is being reduced nationally. Why bring people when they can just be outsourced. That has been the M.O. of the CIO.
